Sushi MX Antojería Japonesa - Escandón — Restaurant in Mexico City

(English follows) Como alguien que trabajó en restaurantes durante más de una década, desde hace más de una década, nunca podría imaginarme estafando a la gente de esta manera. Primero, pedimos la cerveza de 1 litro en oferta por 99 pesos, y estaba bastante claro que teníamos la intención de compartirla porque (aparte de pedir literalmente «una cerveza») cuando el camarero nos ofreció las opciones de cervezas disponibles como parte de la oferta, mi novio y yo revisamos las opciones y nos pusimos de acuerdo en una delante de él. Luego pedimos el tempura que estaba en un menú promocional aparte y, del menú habitual, el arroz frito, los Kushiagues de camarones y queso y dos pedidos de sushi. Bien, en el menú dice que los pedidos de sushi son 2 por 1 sin mencionar ninguna restricción. Sin embargo, si miras una de las paredes del restaurante, dice que el 2 por 1 solo se aplica de lunes a viernes de 2 a 5 de la tarde. Nos dimos cuenta de esto antes de pedir? No. El camarero se aseguró de que entendiéramos la promoción? No. Cuando llegó la comida, nos trajeron un bol de ramen al azar, y cuando le dije al camarero que no habíamos pedido ramen, me dijo que si pedías el tempura del menú promocional, eso significaba que pedías todo lo que había en ese menú, que incluía 1 ramen, 1 tempura y 1 cerveza promocional. ESTO NO ESTABA ESCRITO EN NINGÚN SITIO. ADEMÁS, NO TIENE NINGÚN SENTIDO, porque nunca nos preguntó qué ramen queríamos y había tres para elegir en el menú!! Supongo que debería sentirme aliviado de que no siguiera del todo esa lógica, ya que nos sirvió dos cervezas y podría habernos estafado aún más pidiéndonos dos raciones de tempura y dos raciones de ramen. Es una locura. La comida era sosa, pero por suerte había salsa de soja.. El sushi no venía acompañado de wasabi, solo de jalapeños picados. Si quieres probar la comida a toda costa, sé muy claro con lo que pides.

As someone who worked in restaurants for over a decade, I could never imagine scamming people like this. First, we ordered the 1-litre beer on special for 99 pesos, and it was pretty clear we intended to share it because (aside from asking for literally “one beer”) when the server provided the choices of beers available as part of the special, my boyfriend and I went over the choices and agreed on one in front of him. We then ordered the tempura that was on a separate promo menu, and from the regular menu, the fried rice, shrimp and cheese Kushiagues and two sushi orders. Now, on the menu, it says sushi orders are 2 for 1 without any mention of restrictions. However, if you look at one of the restaurant walls, it says the 2 for 1 is only honoured Monday through Friday from 2 to 5pm. Did we notice this before ordering? No. Did the server make sure that we understood the promo? No. When the food arrived, we randomly got a bowl of ramen, and when I told the server that we didn’t ask for ramen, he said that if you order the tempura from the promo menu, then it means you’re ordering everything on that menu, which includes 1 ramen, 1 tempura and 1 promo beer. THIS WAS WRITTEN NOWHERE. IT ALSO DOESN’T MAKE SENSE AT ALL because he never asked us which ramen we wanted and there were three to choose from on the menu. I guess I should be relieved that he didn’t follow through entirely on that logic since he served us 2 beers and he could’ve scammed us further into delivering 2 orders of tempura and 2 orders of ramen. Just, crazy. The food was mostly bland - thankfully there was soya sauce. The sushis were not delivered with wasabi, just chopped jalapenos. This used to be my favorite sushi place in Mexico City. I went to them just about every week for a year. Starting in 2023 they doubled their prices in the rolls because apparently they “had a discount going for years”. The order got mixed up because I thought I was ordering my normal amount of sushi and then only got half! Had to pay double to get what I wanted after already receiving half the order. Feeling so sad that I’ll never eat here again because at that price you might as well be ordering from a fancy...

Not really good. Sushi rolls are 90% rice with only a very tiny morsel of actual food inside. Way too much rice. I could not even see my shrimp and avocado inside there. So very little. Gyozas are tiny! Just average taste on both. Miso...
