As a highly picky dessert lover, who is health conscious, w high standards, I would say, they are worth breaking your diet for! (But you might not have to 😀; since they are vegan, organic, and made w natural sugars (like fruit, maple, etc). I have been here twice, and I can see they have improved their recipe allot (better texture, and now proper ratio of filling to dough). I did not like the pistachio i found it bland, but the second time I came i thought they were all fantastic!!! I prefer the citrus flavors, as I normally don't eat sugar, even not much fruit, and my sister is normal vegan and also loves them so I think everyone will find a flavor they love and it is the prefect level sweetness for everyone to enjoy. Even my bf who is gluten free was very happy w the gf options. For me, they are a bit pricey (being an expat) but since they are organic vegan, I can see why they would cost as much as a normal specialty doughnut in USA. I am looking forward to coming back!
To improve: more texture/Crunchy toppings/more of the topping itself. Add pictures to the display case/picture menu, available/sold out signs (the empty case is confusing, and harder to order w just names of flavors). The amount of flavors is overwhelming, i would break it up into categories (classic, specialty, fan favorites, etc.) Or Maybe experiment w a build your own doughnut model. As a health nut I would love to see a masa Madre and a sugar free option w stevia/monk fruit. Personally, I would buy more at a cheaper price if they were sized between the normal and minis. The mini is too small looking for me. I hope the buisness stays around for good!! I really think they are a great product...
Read moreOh my gosh, before I say anything else, I MUST, tell a story about the first time I grabbed a donut from “The Better Donut.” I got it to go and was walking outside on the phone. I took my first bite and went silent. The person in the other end asked if I was still there and when I was done chewing, I said, “please excuse me, can we take a moment of silence please?” 😂😂 I literally needed a moment of silence while I enjoyed this extremely delicious donut. It was out of this world flavor bursting, if that’s even a way you can describe something.
This is one of the healthiest donuts you can have, for being a donut. They use organic flour (without glyphosate, PHEW), maple syrup for sweetener, and they’re all VEGAN, and there are GF options. Pretty much any donut can be made GF, at least that is my understanding.
The staff was kind to my requests and questions and I left a happy customer. I recommend anyone to try this place, you will NOT be disappointed. This is a safe place for vegans and those who do not eat gluten.
Recently, I went back and asked if they can make cakes, even though they may not make a traditional cake, I found out that they can make you a donut cake! Legit, a pyramid of donuts heaven.
The creator of this place Sarah was there one of the times I went and she was so nice too. I’m thankful for people that are passionate about what they do and how they serve and I can tell she cares about quality and giving that to her customers.
I will be back to have more GF vegan donuts, because I have to try...
Read moreI appreciate a business like this, which is trying to make a healthier donut. They have a lot of flavors which is interesting. Kudos to them for creativity. The owners are also lovely people.
A heads up that I didn’t realize before coming… because their donuts are organic, that means they don’t last as long. So probably best to get and try to eat the same day unless you’re ok with putting them in the fridge.
I took two stars off mainly because I wasn’t totally in love with the taste. To me, the dough was a bit too thick and dense, kind of like a pancake. I also got some of the filled donuts and found that the fruit “compote” was really thick and weird, not like what you would expect from a jam/marmalade filling. I get that using organic ingredients might make it more difficult to get a consistency like a “normal” donut filling, but I’d have liked them more if it was a bit closer. Also, their donuts were pretty expensive (about 100 MXN each), so could only be a treat for...
