Zen Bistro & Cafe Restaurant — Restaurant in Kathmandu Metropolitan City

I walked past this place coupla times and thought this place would be nice for a brekky. So me and my husband went there for the brekky. The place was cute with nice tables and chairs and had good space for parking. We ordered English and American brekky which comes with coffee/tea or juice, as they’ve advertised in the menu. We ordered americano and me being coffee enthusiast I was excited to taste the lavaza beans they brew there. But oh boy! When the brekky came it came in a dinner place, with soggy toast, the scrambled eggs was fully cooked, 2 small pieces of bacon which was chewy and stank, the butter was melted and we didn’t get our hash brown as it was mentioned in the menu. And the coffee tasted horrible. So I asked the server about the coffee and he mention we use instant coffee for the brekky. Like if you spend so much on interior, music and ambience. Why don’t you amp up your game and serve decent food ? I would love to have a chat with a manager or the owner. Such a nice place but why in earth haven’t you focused on your food quality ?...

Zen Bistro & Café is a brand new eatery in Bansbari. If you live on the north side of town like I do, you’ll know that there isn’t that much variety in places to eat around here, and it looks like Zen will go a long way in filling that gap. From the owners of Tamarind and Embassy, this newly opened, beautiful restaurant focuses on Thai food. Chef Piya is here from Thailand to train the kitchen staff in how to prepare authentic Thai dishes, and she had selected some specials for us to try.

Of course Zen isn’t only about the food—what really elevates everything and makes this a unique and attractive dining experience is the ambiance. Clearly a lot of effort has gone into the décor and design of each part of the building. Multiple rooms provide different seating options, both inside and out, including large comfy couches to lounge on, balcony and outdoor seating, and an awesome looking bar area. I found the entire experience extremely enjoyable and look forward to coming back...

Solid 4 🌟 apparently same ppl/owners who have been doing well with multiple outlets at various places. Place is very neat and well serviced.. enough parking for their space Thai menu so we had to order Som Tam but a different version with pork which was yum but the salad not enough Som Tam - tangy and hot!!! The only other food we ordered that day was BBQ chicken which to our surprise came super quick for a BBQ dish and was very decent. The manager was happy to help us with last round of drinks even after the bar closed so no further comments. Bill was slightly on higher side but maybe we lost count on the number...
