We arrived at 8:05pm, and food finally landed at the table at 8:35pm — not terrible, but noticeably slow, especially when we watched another group leave after waiting too long with no food at all. The atmosphere is pleasant at first glance, with music playing in the background and a lively crowd. That said, the noise quickly becomes overwhelming, bouncing off the tarp overhead and creating an echo chamber of people trying to talk over each other. The seating design is awkward — the bench is too deep, leaving you awkwardly leaning forward to eat — and the tables are wobbly and aged, like they were borrowed from someone’s garden. Apple juice: Authentic and fresh-tasting — better than most restaurants — but served in a frustratingly small glass. Not enough to last a meal. Coke: Served in its own chilled bottle with a slice of lemon — average taste, but nicely presented. The beef burger was disappointing. The bottom bun was burnt and stiff, while the patty itself had cooled, like it had been sitting out. Passable, but not great. The chicken burger was unexpectedly spicy and overstuffed with salad, making it difficult to eat — ended up unfinished. The chips were oddly shaped, but actually tasty — probably the best part of the meal. A place with potential, but not meeting it. Between the noise, the missed menu items (the "New Zealand pie" was unavailable), and the hit-or-miss food, it's hard to recommend. Service is slow, presentation is inconsistent, and for the prices, you'd expect more than just some decent chips. Not a disaster, but wouldn’t rush back.

Ok, I really want to give 3.5*** . I'm gonna make this as honest as possible. We sampled, Caesar salad, and fish and chips. The Caesar was DE.LI.CI.OUS. but also small. It was sold as a dinner size salad, but was sized like a side salad. Nevertheless it tasted delish. The fish and chips is another story. We were looking forward to a nice battered crispy piece of cod, unfortunately the fish was not so good. The cod was fried with skin. The fish was a bit tough (as if it was a frozen piece) the beer-battered crust was unfortunately inedible. It was fried either too hot, or there was something else wrong with it. Although the fish (that you had to scrape off) was tasty, it was also a bit too dry. The fries, think they were Cajun fries, were also tasty. They come with an tiny little bit of mayonnaise (not sure the mayo was free of charge) The peas were supposed to be creamy, but were really dry and very chewy. Must say, the staff was very friendly and apologized for the poorly fried fish dish. They took it off our bill. Which was kind, doesn't happen in Amsterdam and they offered us drinks. So they were really cool about it. Maybe we should've send it back when they first brought it out. Or maybe the chef should've not send it out. Anyway we will go back, fingers x-ed the Caesar will be bigger. Also think there was suppose to be a poached egg on my Caesar.

Had been wanting to visit this place for a while, so decided to go to the Halloween trivia. It was a busy one so understandably the staff seemed a bit flusted. My friends were late so I asked if I could order my dinner as I was quite hungry. I was told that no I couldn't order until my whole table had arrived, a little disappointed I continued to wait, with my wine, which of course I didn't have to wait to order. One of my friends finally arrived and by then I really wanted to eat, so I asked again and I was told no, so I asked to speak to a manger who then approved my request to order a meal. The 10€ burger special only includes the burger, which we ordered one meat and one Vege burger. Both arrived as meat burgers, lucky my friend just liked Vege, but isn't vegetarian, so he didn't make a fuss and just ate it. My burger was full of gristle and was very rare. Otherwise it was nice. When my friend ordered the waiter made a very strange remark that she shouldn't expect her meal at the same time as ours since we had ordered first- what person would expect that?? drinks are pushed quite a bit, I think we were asked 8 times in 2 hours if we wanted a drink! Trivia was fun, but ran a little late for a week night. Overall a bit of a disappointing experience, being denied food at a restaurant has really...
