I spotted the extensive amounts of TripAdvisor certificates in the window so decided to pop in and give them a try. I tried the Fish Jal Frezie and was warned it was spicy, but I mentioned I'd eaten a lot of Thai, Indian and Chinese cuisine so they warned it may not be as hot as I expect (apparently the Dutch palate isn't used to spicy dishes so they've toned it down a bit). Nonetheless, I found it a good full rich taste and when mentioning that I may swing by with a friend the next night, was advised to book a table in advance to ensure we had a place. On that next night they didn't seem to have any record of our reservation when we arrived... but still showed us to a table (so weren't as busy as they predicted). For our mains we had Lamb Rogan Josh and Chicken Jal Frezi, which were good but my dining partner mentioned they weren't as rich as the curries we'd eaten in Walsall (UK). I was also disappointed that the Pulao rice was advertised with peas but it looked as though we were just served plain boiled rice with a small dollop of pickle atop. Overall the meal wasn't bad, but I couldn't help feeling that the staff weren't really attentive to diner's needs so we didn't hang around for any more drinks, decamping to a nearby bar instead. A later night I decided to try the Shiva out instead, and had just as good a meal there, too.

I have mixed feelings about this restaurant. While the food was impressive and I wouldn't rate it poorly, I was quite disappointed with the hospitality and treatment I received on my second visit with my Indian colleagues. Although we arrived early and the restaurant was empty, we were asked to move to a different table in the corner with the explanation that the front tables are not usually preferred. This seemed strange but we ignored it and ordered starters and drinks. When the manager asked us about the main course, we explained that we were only interested in starters. However, the manager's response was unexpected and disrespectful - "Ohh, you're here only for starters? But you never told us that before?" This left us feeling disrespected and humiliated, and we considered leaving the restaurant but we stayed as we had already ordered the appetizers. I'm not sure if this was a regular occurrence or if Indians were being treated differently in an Indian restaurant, but it was unacceptable either way. As a result, I won't be returning to this restaurant. However, I must admit that I will miss the food which was delicious.

I was really shocked with the experience that i had here on last night. We ordered some drinks with our food and the drinks was Mango lassi& Mango juice. Mango lassi was really nice and sweet but when i tried the juice it’s tastes exactly like the bottle mango juice which we can get it in India. And i asked about that to Manager/boss and he replied that ‘It’s fresh mango juice but few minutes after he came towards me and replied with a awful attitude that - ‘Ya, it’s bottle juice,it’s Maaza juice’ ; and after that he started to murmuring and staring at us most of the time. We felt like we were having the food for free because after that question they treated us like homeless. Maaza juice is normal mango bottle drink available in most of the Asian store for less that €2.50 and for a small glass of that drink here they’re charging €5.95. It’s quite embarrassing , atleast charge more price in the menu but give good food to the customers and please learn how to treat customers because we’re paying for everything.

I rarely write negatives reviews, therefore do understand how severe the situation was hence this time I’m simply ought to do so.. Rest assured; this isn’t solely a bad review but more of a bold crystal clear WARNING! We booked with TheFork App using 2000 ‘YUMS’ that are equivalent to €50 in cash, which can be used for everything of the Menu, we had some snacks at home in the early evening and therefore we weren’t starving and decided to share 2 main courses between the three of us as well some Garlic Nans and 3 Papadams and beer to start with. The waiter took our order and we were waiting for our food to come. After few minutes, the waiter came back to our table and told us that the owner said that we need to order more food otherwise he cannot serve us and that we will have to leave! He also said that the drinks are not including within TheFork Yums which is obviously not the case as (once again) the voucher aka yums is equivalent to cash We tried to explain that for now we would like to start with this as we are not super hungry but he told us that he could not care less, and that if we will not order more food right away we need to go out of his restaurant and that he will not serve us!!! We never felt so hostile and unwelcome as we felt yesterday evening. Needless to say that any place which treat customers like this shouldn’t have the right of existence and especially shouldn’t be associated with such a respectful platform like the Fork as it gives it a very bad name and harm it’s good reputation. I could only highly suggest you to avoid this place by all means in order to prevent similar experience, as apparently it isn’t the first that the restaurant owner behave in a rude and aggressive way to his client (please check the previous reviews; wish that I’ve done that prior to my visit..) My reservation had to be cancelled so I could receive my unused yums back into my account and therefore my review is written in here and not on TheFork App. Lastly, we have been living in Amsterdam for many years and been to plenty of amazing Indian restaurants with great food and service, do your self a favour and go to dine elsewhere,...

This is WARNING! Please do not go here and get abused by scammers. My partner and I wanted Indian food but weren’t that hungry, so we tried a new place offering 50% off via Fork. We ordered 1 appetizer, 1 curry, 1 garlic naan, and 1 rice, but the owner#1 said it wasn’t “enough” and forced us to order 2 curries minimum (odd, but fine). We realized the curries came with naan and rice, so we cancelled our side orders. The waiter laughed under his breath, making us uncomfortable. While waiting, owner #2 loudly burped nearby. Our food came and owner#1 had his thumb in the bowl touching the food. Afterward, he came to our table & pushed us to order drinks, claiming it was “the right thing to do” since we had a discount. He asked repeatedly, even after we declined. Eventually, my partner gave in, but I didn’t want one. The waiter kept pressing, making me feel very uncomfortable. He asked me another 6 times in the span of 20 minutes. When I told him that he is making me uncomfortable, he argued with me! I felt unsafe & shocked by the behaviour of the staff, which I think was the owner. Why do they treat customers like this?

Edit in response to owners comment:

And here’s where it gets even worse. During our meal, they went behind our backs and canceled our Fork reservation! Yes, they realized how disgustingly they had treated us and anticipated we’d leave a bad review, so they manipulated the system to hide our experience. Fortunately, we caught on and rebutted the cancellation on Fork, and it’s now visible for all to see (we went on September 18th).

This restaurant has no respect for its customers, blatantly manipulates the booking system to cover up their terrible service, and harasses diners into spending more than they intended. This is not just a terrible restaurant—it’s a scam. They use Fork to lure people in with false promises of discounts, then cancel your booking to avoid negative feedback. AVOID THIS PLACE unless you enjoy being disrespected...

Definitely this is a place of memories but not of India rather 'bad memories' .. if you want to spoil your Amsterdam trip, this is the place to go to.. We went yesterday for dinner and thanks to the lovely waiter there, we will never step foot in there again and will recommend our friends to follow too.. This is definitely the worst experience I have ever had in any restaurant till date and I have travelled and stayed all over the world. My memory of India is the welcoming people that we see around the world and this restaurant definitely scores negative there. While the waiter there definitely took time to take our order ( mind you ,the restaurant was not even that full) , when we placed our order ( food for 5 which included 4 main course and soup) he states 'is that all' - we will not be able to recover the cost of the table ( are you serious!) . We placed an order for 5 items and you try push your choice ? Whatever you justify, are you stating you will deny food after making us wait just because you do not know how to have a good business plan in place? Or is the customer expected to do a full fledged financial assessment of the restaurant and then decide to place order so that the owner is able to make money or not- that was the definitely the most hilarious'memory' I will carry.. please do shut down rather than spoiling the memory of India for us !

Reply to Owner : Dear Owner, I have nothing to gain or prove a point here..You,your people know what they did and spoke.. and just so that you know, the day that we went to your restaurant, it wasn't even full but if you prefer living in Utopia rather than taking the feeedback properly, it's okay ! While you speak about the 475 reviews ,please do make time to read through all of them, which will let you know the truth. I will end this here.. my review was for helping other travelers like us to know what we went thru and what they can be wary about(which I what I think Google...
