I had been wanting to visit Hey Days for a while, and I finally got the chance to go on a weekday. This place specializes in Mediterranean-based foods, which I was excited to try. Our waitress recommended that if we were ordering from the a la carte menu, we should order a variety of dishes since they are like shareable plates, similar to tapas.
When we placed our order, they started us off with potato croquettes, which were okay but not outstanding. We then tried some starter dishes like special meatballs (Köfte) with hummus and a special yogurt sauce, as well as regular hummus and slowly cooked eggplant. The eggplant was definitely our favorite, and their unique twist on hummus was interesting.
For our main dishes, we ordered grilled lamb chops, slowly cooked beef, roasted eggplant (mücver), and some fresh fried potatoes. The slowly cooked beef and mücver the grilled eggplants were the highlights of the meal.
We decided to indulge in desserts and chose the lemon tart and chocolate trio. Both desserts were delicious and a perfect way to end the meal.
The staff at Hey Days were informative and kind, providing us with helpful recommendations. However, I must mention that the prices were a bit on the higher side for the portion sizes. Despite this, the overall dining experience at Hey Days was enjoyable, and I would recommend it for those looking to explore Mediterranean flavors in a shareable,...
Read moreWe had dinner here with a group of about 15 people, so we were served the chef's menu. The food wasn't bad, but nothing special either. A nice chicken dish and gambas, accompanied with boring spaghetti and fries. Starters and deserts were nice. However, the portions are WAY too small. The concept is that they put different dishes on the table to share with everyone, but there just wasn't enough. After the main course, I was seriously waiting for another round, that never came. As another reviewer said, people joking about going to McD afterwards, but that was three years ago. I was very disappointed, and I was going to say something about it at the time, but I didn't. Because, here's the other thing, I didn't think the staff was very friendly or welcoming. At desert, our side of the table didn't have spoons, so I went and asked. After a few minutes of watching my very small ice cream melt, a waitress dumped a handful of spoons on the table, just like that. And then I haven't even talked about the prices. The chef's menu is EUR 32,50 each, but I would say it's worth EUR 20 at most, even at Eindhoven prices. Drinks are expensive too: ordinary craft beers cost up to EUR 5 and for an Apple Bandit they charge more than EUR 6. That's just theft. Needless to say, I will not come back here. To end on a positive note, the red house wine...
Read more:( Confusing concept and in the end very expensive. Sure It says 12 euro on the menu but the staff recommend you order 4 portions for men and 3 for women to make it a meal size...! It's simply priced wrong. Almost feeling like trying to be a michelen star style restaurant with no michelen star food or service . Although the food was good, compliments to then chef.... Just the portions and pricing is totally wrong. When consumers are left hungry joking to go to McDonald's after the meal... Somethings is up. Plus it's not all that.... I gave it two stars for two reasons. First was the interior! That is spot on out of a Pinterest board! The second was the company.... Unfortunately and perhaps a telling sign was that we were the only patrons in the restaurant the whole night. I wouldn't come back. And that's not often my opinion for restaurants in Eindhoven..... @heydays: Check you pricing and concept. You got a good chef and a good interior. Just way over budget for your regular consumer to be left out of pocket and still...
