Tbh the food was quite alright, one of the reasons we kept going there. The service on the other hand was terrible. You have to order using a qr-code and after that no communication whatsoever. We came in hungry and we almost left hungry as well. It took well over an hour for the food to arrive. When I went to ask what took the food so long I was told the waiting time was an hour. That's definitely something I would have wanted to know before ordering so we could switch to another restaurant. We sat at a high table with a hungry and tired small child, so as soon as the food came in we switched to a low table. As a matter of fact: I asked the waiter to walk with me to the low table. I waited at the high table for the waiter while my husband and child moved to the low table. During the time we have been waiting I saw different waiters walking around puzzled because the couldn't find the ones that ordered the dish, that's the reason I waited there for our order. Unfortunately the food wasn't brought in together. We had two pasta and a garlic bread. Apparently it took longer to prepare the garlic bread. The co-worker brought our food to the low table and told us it was going to be difficult for her to remember where to bring the garlic bread, since our order was made at a different table. She told us she would try to remember and I told her to keep an eye out as well. You can imagine that's not a very relaxed way of eating your food. I'll get back on this in a minute.
At this point I was quite annoyed since I wanted the garlic bread together with our pasta and not as a dessert. I called a waitress and told her about this and that once we finished the pasta we would no longer be interested in the garlic bread. She went to her manager to ask and she explained to me that the pasta and the garlic bread both were made at different stations, which wasn't a satisfactory explanation at all. It should not be my concern as a customer where the food is prepared. About 15 min later i saw a waitress walking around with the garlic bread, not sure whether it was ours. When she walked back I realised it must be ours so I followed her and took the garlic bread to our table.
A short while later she came after me to ask whether that was my garlic bread. I told her it was and that we switched tables. A discussion followed about that the food took longer since the waiting time is one hour, the garlic bread was brought in later since it was prepared at a different station and that we should tell the cashier that we switched tables so that the rest of the order would be brought to the right table. I told her that I totally got what she was saying and that I saw the waiters working very hard, but that I should have been told about the waiting time, that the different preparation stations shouldn't be my concern and that nobody told us to tell the cashier. Especially since we told her colleague that we switched tables. I was quite done with it all since the waiter wasn't listening and just kept repeating herself.
I completely understand the frustration by the waiting staff because they have to do there work in difficult circumstances and have to explain over and over again things they have no control about. All I could see was them doing the best they can. So I blame the management. Why is there no mention about the crazy waiting time? An order should be complete before it is brought in and if you don't want people to switch to other tables, you should bring in the food in a reasonable amount of time or inform them how they can change the order to another table. The main reason we went to Vapiano (beside the nice food) is because we expect to get our food a lot sooner. Moreover: All the frustration mentioned before could have been taken away with better communication. So do something about it, Vapiano, cause you are losing customers as well...
Read moreTerrible Experience at Vapiano [Location in the Mall] - Avoid! My visit to Vapiano at the Mall today was an absolute disaster from start to finish. I would strongly advise anyone considering eating here to go elsewhere. First, I ordered a pasta dish specifically requesting no cheese. When it arrived, it clearly had cheese on it that had been poorly scraped off. This is completely unacceptable, especially for anyone with allergies or specific dietary requirements. The worst part, however, was the wait time for the pizzas. I ordered two pizzas, one of which was for my young son. After waiting for 45 minutes, I asked about the delay and was told "just 5 more minutes." This lie was repeated several times. Finally, after waiting for over 1 hour and 25 minutes, I was completely fed up. And of course, the moment they finally brought the pizza, it had burned spots all over it. After such an incredible wait, this was the final straw. I expressed my frustration to the Manager, expecting some level of apology, assistance, or a solution. Instead, I was met with a manager who was totally unhelpful, unaccommodating, and unprofessional. They showed no capability to de-escalate the situation or offer a resolution. I explicitly stated that I no longer wanted the burned pizza and was done with the whole experience. We ended up having to eat elsewhere. In short: The service is incredibly slow, the order accuracy is poor, and the management is completely incapable of handling even basic customer issues. This is an unprofessional restaurant. End of Vapiano for me! I highly recommend you avoid this...
Read moreA very long waiting time and serving leftover food (see update below). And they don’t maintain the quantity. The pasta which arrived today after 45 mins of wait was less than half the portion for what we got for the same item a couple of weeks ago. For the soup, I saw it ready at the counter and being repeatedly ignored by the serving staff for over 10 mins, so simply went there myself and picked it up. So bad service and inconsistent. Update: The waitress brought a pasta to us, not knowing that we already got one (with 40% quantity). Since my kid was already full, we refused this and she happily proposed to serve it to one of their staff members. However, looking at the preparation & presentation of this new pasta, I realized that the pasta that my kid ate was probably a leftover which they served us. It didn’t look as if coming fresh from the pan. This is really HORRIBLE! I would never return here or any of the Vapiano restaurants and strongly discourage anyone else too!
See the photos. The first one (brighter) is what we had in March 2022 and it was taken when my daughter was already halfway through the meal. The second pic is the newly arrived pasta serving yesterday. It’s considerably less...
