Meal courtesy of First Table. Decor - cool and icy bar area, outdoor eating area and a small cosy and elegant area with booth seating. Polenta fries - delicious, crisp, held their shape and hot -but for us lacked a bit of flavour. Came with needed aioli. Duck liver pate - to die for. Smooth and creamy. And oh so soft. Came with heaps of garlic crostini and some cherries. Mains were the steak, elegantly presented on hot plate. Surrounded by potato halves and broccoli florets, 2 pieces of asparagus - some melt in your mouth red onions and salsa verde. Resting on a bed of cauliflower cheese puree - which was a surprise - was expecting rustic cauliflower cheese. Chicken parmigiana on a bed of gnocchi and leak and onions - again well presented. Moist chicken. Beautiful gnocchi full of flavour. 2 cocktails. Both left happy and content and most importantly feeling full.

We have ordered a meat lover pizza, Caesar salad, beef cheek, sirloin steak, fried chicken, and mushroom pasta, didn’t have any problem with front of house, but food was probably one of the worst I’ve been this year, Pizza tasted like $3 frozen pizza from pak n save with extra topping, especially the dough was very disappointing (if it was anything close to homemade). Caesar salad was blend with element of surprise, lump of anchovy. Poached egg was hard boiled. Beef cheek, I know there is no way serving this freshly cooked, but at least could have reheated properly. It was very dry overall and even had crust on couple corners of protein. Sirloin steak, ordered mid rare, got a well done streak with couple hard boiled poached egg, sent back to redo them, received sort of mid rare this time with runny egg yolk(w/ extra egg shell), but this time maybe chef/cook was too focused on temperature, didn’t render the fat on top of the sirloin, meat smelt little funky like 7 day wet aged piece of meat, under seasoned. Fried chicken and pasta was average. I know you normally you don’t have A team for Sat lunch service. But it was very poorly cooked, five of us all agreed best food of the day was bowl of fries. We did get ‘extra’ discount but probably won’t go back even if it’s all free all you can eat. Period.

Great location, excellent atmosphere, fantastic food, friendly and attentive staff. We had a fillet and a ribeye, cooked to our requests, served with brocolini and gratin, the plate was excellently presented and a joy to enjoy. We also had classic tiramisu for dessert, tempted by terror-misu, but glad we made the right call, the dessert portion was more than enough for us two. The only disappointment was the kitchen was slightly disorganised today and didn't serve what says on the menu. And though staff forgot our drink for a moment, and had to come back to check how we want our beef cook twice, she was very well trained with excellent etiquette so it didn't bother us.

Better than many. There is no much choice of Italian mains, but they are quite good. I like pizza here but, avoiding weird kiwi combinations, I always end up with the Margherita one. The pizza is good, but they should make the dough rest longer as it makes you gassy after eaten as the yeast keep fermenting in your stomach. Lastly, the kumara chips here are just amazing... I do not know how else to describe it. I have been in Dargaville, advertised as the town where you find the best kumara in NZ and they are actually average. Here, in this pub, the kumara chip are just the best!! Loved it!! Overall it's a nice place for a dinner.

Very surprised by this place! My husband booked it on first table and if I’m honest, I often find a lot of places to be very average - not here! Thoroughly impressed by the food. Portion size was just right, great flavors, perfectly cooked, beautiful plating. We split the Mac n cheese as a starter, then had the beef cheek and lamb shank. Thought the meal couldn’t be any better and then we were blown away by the desserts. We had the sticky date pudding and flourless brownie. Not sure which was better. Highly recommend. All in all, great dining experience.
