Now my local neighborhood fave. I literally live about a stone's throw away from this place and have only tried it because my partner and I were very bored and couldn't be bothered driving to the city center for a date night. Plus they were on First Table. We started with the yummy pork bites(scrumptious), the seafood chowder(divine) and the polenta chips (just the right crunchyness) Our mains came in very good portions. My partner enjoyed his steak and I devoured my Confit Duck. Now, desserts were the real pleaser as I just went "hmmmm" with every bite of the crepe. My partner's chocolate dessert was also very good, as I had a little bit of it. Thoroughly full, we went home and sank into a food coma. Service - was excellent, friendly and accommodating. The Wine List is quite impressive, as it is varied and from all over the world. I had a French Merlot which had good soft tannins and didn't overpower my dish, surprisingly it went well with my Duck mains. Read moreOk, this place is just heaven on earth. I can't recommend it enough. The food is divine. I mean heavenly off the charts delicious. They have a seafood chowder to rave and remember. All ingredients were fresh and the seasoning just perfect. The place is simple and doesn't look like much, but it really is a must for the soul. Great selection of wines for a cafe. We had the beef casserole and spicy prawns with some house cocktails and even the chicken sandwich was to die for. Sabina is the most delightful and charismatic woman. Her warm and caring hospitality were truly memorable. We sure hope she comes visit us to Mexico. She freely and thoughtfully shared her advice about travelling around NZ. Honestly, we would dine here if we lived in NZ. The flavours will live in our memory forever. Thank you for a...
Read moreThree of us had lunch here last week. The pork belly was 90% fat. When I told the owner she said pork belly is mostly fat. When I said there should be a layer of pork- she said they can't tell when they prepare it! Surely when the chef cuts up the pieces- she can see there is no meat!! Unlike her response to another reviewer- she DID CHARGE us! My sister's pasta was plain, but she could have eaten twice as much as the small portion served to her. My gurnard was small and I think previously frozen. Was so looking forward to it- but it was underwhelming. We won't be back. Poor quality, pricey food and inadequate response from the owner- no one wants to eat a...
