It's not often I feel the need to write a review about a subpar experience, but I can't in good conscience ignore health and safety issues. My wife and I wanted to dine in celebration of a major milestone, so we decided to walk into Brother's Bar & Eatery which looked pretty decent and the reviews, in the most part, seemed raving.
We ordered a couple of mocktails, two mains, and a side.
I should preface by saying that the service was reasonable - those who served and interacted with us were pleasant, and they were kind. No issues with that, and the atmosphere was fairly okay too. The mocktails we ordered - watermelon and kiwi mojitos - were delicious, and our side of fries were cooked real awesome.
Where we found issue was with our mains. I ordered the Lamb Mince Kebab, and my wife ordered the Chicken Kebab ($29 each). My portion was looking good, however at first glance, my wife's chicken portion looked a little underwhelming, particularly for the price, however that was the extent of our issue at first.
However, as I was getting through my lamb kebab, I noticed a black strip of plastic embedded within the kebab - obviously integrated when the mince itself was made into a kebab, and it was stuck in there too. I notified the establishment, and ultimately decided to not proceed with my part of the dinner, however my wife continued hers. At this point, we were a little put off, and it marred our evening a little given we were wanting to celebrate. To be fair to them, they did wipe my order off the bill and we paid the rest of the bill, and the owner/manager offered something else instead, whilst apologising, and we said it was okay. We were just going to finish what was okay.
However, the owner/manager did bring over a complimentary slice of cheesecake which he insisted on giving us. Genuinely appreciated the gesture, however - and this is really unfortunate because we're not ungrateful for them trying to make things right - my wife tasted it and it just tasted off, as if the cheese/milk in the cake had gone off. At that point we were just about to leave and we just let the owner/manager know on our way out, just so future patrons don't order from a H&S perspective. The owner/manager was adamant that it was fine, as it was made that morning, so I was a bit shocked given the rancid taste it left in both of our mouths when we left. I gave him benefit of the doubt, but we weren't 100% convinced - and I'm not one to be sensitive to things like this. It really tasted like something had gone off, and we both felt it couldn't be the actual flavour of a cake - and we've had many! Our main concern that we fed some of these to our two-year old toddler.
So as much as we appreciate the gesture, it just was an unfortunate end to an already-underwhelming evening, even after spending $65 on everything else.
Unfortunately it doesn't look like we'll return, but I felt this review was fair to place because it was just disappointing and we felt a bit deflated after the visit, even more so seemingly feeling problematic by bringing anything in the first place. Here's hoping they can improve and pay more...
Read moreWORST FOOD EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE – DISGUSTING! I just ordered Chicken di Piazza and Chicken Naan from this place, and honestly, I don't even know where to begin. The Chicken di Piazza came in such a tiny portion it looked like a sample, not a meal. It was absolutely pathetic — like they scraped the leftovers from someone else's plate and sent it to me. The Chicken Naan? Complete disaster. It was so salty that I couldn’t even take more than one bite without feeling sick. It tasted like someone dropped it into the ocean and pulled it back out. Is this what they call "food"? This was nothing but a salty, dry, miserable excuse for a meal. For the price they charge, the quality and quantity were beyond insulting. It’s clear they have ZERO respect for their customers. This was not just a bad meal — it was an embarrassment. I honestly wouldn’t feed this to a stray dog. Never in my life have I been this angry over food. Shame on whoever cooked this and even more shame on whoever packed it thinking it was okay to serve. If you value your health, your money, and your mood — STAY FAR AWAY from this place. Absolutely disgusting. First time ordering, and definitely the...
Read moreHighly, highly recommend!! Comparable with Paradise in sandringham just much closer! 🙌
Wish I could rate it even higher, it was that good. Great service, reasonable prices and genuinely amazing food! Honestly so good. Went for late lunch with the girls and each of our dishes were legit spot on. We don't do spice but love Indian food lol and they accommodated that the best we've had before - it still had all the flavor just without the spice.
We got the lollipop chicken, chicken Tikka, & samosa entrées, and butter chicken & Biriyani mains, with garlic Naan, cheese Naan, and chicken Naan! Everything was freshly made, and so flavorsome and delicious!! The Naan was sooo fresh and soft but still a little crunchy on the bottom 🤤🤤🤤 literally salivating writing this. We were craving Indian food so bad and it hit the spot so perfectly, this will now be our monthly spot for our ladies lunches ❤ can't recommend enough!
The restaurant is smallish, but clean and deceptively busy. We went at 4pm on a Sunday and there was a steady flow of people picking up their orders (cause they do pick ups & deliveries!). Will defs be ordering a cheeky delivery every now...
