Checked out this casual Japanese restaurant in Mandaluyong to sample some of their mouthwatering ramens and other dishes. We tried the following: 》Special Kuro and Shiro Ramen 》Karaage and Gyoza Sets 》Ebi Curry Rice 》Teriyaki Roll 》Gyoza The hearty broth and springy noodles combined with the robust medley of textures/flavours were balanced, so impressed with the taste of all the ramens. The first mouthful was quite addictive and elevated by the different elements on them like the tender slices of pork belly, spring onion, black fungus, seaweed etc. The Ebi curry rice had a substantial amount of prawn tempura + meat and the moreish sauce on it was delightful. There's a great variety of side dishes too (we had the Teriyaki roll, Karaage, Gyoza) - everything was scrumptious and complimented the richness of the ramen and curry rice. They have set meals available for as low as Php 210 which includes 1 ramen, gyoza or karaage, kimuchi, moyashi and rice - such great value for money. You may choose from Mild, Spicy or Nutty soup bases so there's something for everyone. These affordable and comforting dishes will certainly satisfy your cravings, I highly recommend them. They have other branches in Glorietta, SM North Edsa, SM Southmall, SM Grand Central Mall Caloocan, Alabang Town Center, BGC and Greenhills.

Ukokkei a not so popular spot for noodle enthusiasts, promises an authentic Japanese dining experience, but falls short in several critical areas, most notably in the quality of its signature dish. Upon entering, the ambiance at Ukokkei is inviting, and minimalist decor reminiscent of traditional ramen shops in Japan. However, the primary draw—its ramen—leaves much to be desired. The most glaring issue is the pervasive fishy taste in the broth. The fishy taste is not only overpowering but suggests a lack of balance in the ingredients, possibly stemming from not properly cooked pork or improper preparation. Moreover, the pricing at Okokkei does not reflect the quality of the dining experience. Comparable establishments offer far superior ramen at a similar or even lower cost, further highlighting the disparity between price and satisfaction at Okokkei. In a city with no shortage of excellent ramen options, Okokkei struggles to justify its premium prices with its current offerings. For those seeking a truly satisfying ramen experience, exploring other venues might prove more rewarding.

Ambience You'll find this place near the mall's food court and House of Lasagna (area where the old ice-skating rink used to be), Lower Ground Floor. Space is a bit limited. Food Teba Karaage was sweet, crunchy outside, and soft inside. They were good! Eat these right away because the sauce makes them soggy. Black Sesame and Garlic Oil Tsukemen (Kuro Mayu Tonkotsu Tsukemen) was goood! Firstly, I like that it's more affordable tsukemen compared to others. Second, there's value for what I paid for because it tasted good! Third, I loved the texture of the noodles and simply the dipping experience! The dip was not too strong and remained perfect for my taste buds. Service It was typical but still good. Expect service charge. I will definitely return here!

went there for lunch last sunday. pretty quiet, despite being so near the busy food court. taste, small serving size & very long serving time do not fit the price point at all. the kuro ramen had tough noodles, tougher small slice of pork & was bland. teriyaki chicken rice is swimming in the salty soy sauce, it couldn't be eaten at all. it was also difficult to get the attention of the staff to order/pay/request water. wouldn't recommend this at all.

Ambiance: Though it is placed near the Food court, it has its own area where you get to feel a little bit of Japanese vibe. Food: The California Roll is amazing, Ramen broth isn't as thick and lacks umami flavor. Overall, the Ramen tasted okay, not the best and not the worst. Service/People: Very accommodating, and would even explain the differences between each food from the menu. Am I gonna eat there again? Probably not, unless I got invited.

I have been eating here for how many years! This is the first budget ramen that I tasted that I was happy even though the price here is not so high compared to other ramen places this is my go to place! It's my ramen area If I crave I've been a loyal customer if I'm not mistaken I started dining here around 2015 or probably less. And the price since then is still the same...the taste and quality of food never changed so I recommend this place.
