I've done my fair share of empanada eating in Vigan and for now, I feel I've found the best I've eaten so far. I ordered the Special Double Egg empanada without meat. It took awhile as it was made fresh (literally they rolled, filled, and fried), but what I received was not what I thought. It was massive! Two HUGE empanadas, one is enough to share with another person. What's nice is it wasn't too greasy, it was made correctly, the ingredients seemed fresh, and with the suka 😋🤤🥟. The restaurant itself has both an open air and enclosed section. It fits the rustic and historic feel of Vigan. I love the use of woods, using the existing elements of trees and historic building, and plants all around. It gets hot though so bring a fan or sit in the indoor section where they have fans. Also, there was loud music with heavy base playing which, for me, I'd rather enjoy the natural element and the feel of historic Vigan. Overall, best Empanada so far from Vigan. Nice place to dine in as well.

Note: This is a delayed post, and I'm hoping this restaurant didn't sustain a lot of damage from today's July 27,2022 earthquake. My cousin who's also a restaurateur from Vigan took me to this top-rated empanada eatery in Vigan. And it did not disappoint! I can now classify Vigan empanadas as street food, and gourmet. This eatery does gourmet. This eatery tries to elevate the Vigan empanadas to a whole new level of gustatory bliss, set in a historical, almost -romantic setting. They are at the highest price range of the empanada kingdom, but it shows in the size of their empanadas.... Not to mention the unlimited chopped onion that they provide you. However, I was not too thrilled with their version of okoy. I'm searching for a particular style of okoy- this is not it, but not bad either. If only they served cold beers to go with the empanadas!

This place was full when we finally visited there just during dinner time. Their specialties of course are Empanada and Okoy. Order both and try them. Really delicious!! It was just a short walk from where we were staying at (Casa Fernandina) and near by the famous Crisologo St. Apparently this place was closed when we first went and found out that they open for lunch and dinner, not for breakfast. Owner was really nice and they have a simple way of making and cooking the empanada- right in the open where you can see firsthand after you place your order.

Expect to wait for a good 30 mins to get a seat and around an hour or more for the food to be served. Ordered the Empanada King which is basically a footlong version of the basic empanada. The whole thing was massive enough for 2-3 persons. Filled with really good longganisa and well seasoned veggies. We also got Okoy which was very disappointing, it had a crepe or pajeon like texture as opposed to the crispy, fluffy kind we were used to, very oily and bland.

Just when I thought all iloko empanadas taste the same, this place proves me wrong. Even the dough they use tastes better. Their okoy priced at 70 was also very crisp and delicious. I had the double double empanada and both the dough and filling were delicious especially when doused with their vinegar which is sour with a hint of sweetness. Really good value and delicious, this place is worth going back for more.

My favorite empanada place in Vigan. I've been to a few and CJ's Empanada is the one I like most. Compared to others, the portions are bigger, tastier, better presented. Taste is consistent the few times I've had their empanada Located within Poblacion and only a few steps from Calle Crisollogo. Nice garden setting. This place gets packed so be ready to wait. 🌈 rainbowjournal . com
