I don't know if we came on a bad day (saturday 9/12), if shortage of hands, but i was really disappointed at this restaurant, i don't think i can ever come back here ever :(
To start, the seating area/placement is in my opinion unacceptable, we were offered two tables in a tiny passage hall seating facing a wall side by side, then the second option were two tables seating face to face at opposite ends far apart, which we prefered instead. As i'm small, instead I ended up squeezing myself literally between a wall bench and my friend's table in a corner, in order to be at least closer and talk/hear each other (as the restaurant was very very noisy/crowded and the atmosphere was unpleasantly hot/constraining inside). These table arrangements are absolutely non sense and servers could barely pass through the middle of the stacked tables. Perhaps having them organized differently would be a lot better for costumers and service?
Then we ordered. Diner for two came at an irregular pace. 1st starter takoyaki came really fast, then 1st ramen almost at the same time, then we got our 2nd starter gyōzas, and later 2nd ramen, we didn't have our drinks yet (to be fair we ordered them later), there was no regular meal pace like this. My friend was given a c.cola can without any glass to drink from, even though she ordered it with ice and lemon, asked a 2nd time, they said no lemon and came back with a cup full of ice all the way to its top..
The food: The takoyaki balls (usually love them) here they tasted really bad and rancid, i guess their frying oil was spoiled, or something wasn't feeling right, i embarrassedly told them i couldn't eat them and a 2nd waiter/chef kindly told us they wouldn't charge them. We had the chicken fried and pork ramens. These were correct. Only my chicken was a bit soggy and luke warm, as it was served too early, but correct. I still tasted some unpleasant rancid taste in it though.. The vegan blueberry moci was very delicious.
We wanted to order a 2nd moci, but the service was too slow/inexistent, so we gave up the order. We did rang the table button several times, but no waiters were in sight for a very long long time (we arrived around 9pm and were there until their closing hour). Finally one of the waiters passed by to retrieve left dishes from an empty table. The table next to us wanted to order more food and deserts, to what the waiter didn't reply, looked up around and yelled out loud "what's the time now?", asking other costumers, then he said the kitchen and service were closed so no more orders. Those clients given no notice were probably in choc with the attitude, even replied to him, "if the service is closed, is the payment bill closed too?"
My friend had come other times to this restaurant and was really disappointed this time. Overall, the food here was only correct, and one item tasted spoiled, unfortunately that's not enough of a positive balance for a second trial ever :( Hope you guys manage to correct some basics. Quality over more else please (less stacked tables/clients, more waiters/cooks, fresh...
Read moreUnfortunately they completely changed the vegan ramen.
It used to come with a different broth that was very unique and different from other ramens in town.
Now the broth tastes like vegetable stock and miso. It’s not bad, but it’s something I can easily make at home or find in cheaper ramen places. And combined with underwhelming toppings it makes for a very bland culinary experience.
The noodles also changed (although they are still nice) as well as the toppings. The toppings are not as good as they used to be and they were cut in half. Only half an egg, one slice of lotus root instead of two, no tempeh, no corn, no nori…
The new type of breading they use to fry the lotus root and tofu absorbs too much water and gets soggy and unpleasant. Plus, the meal is already almostq entirely made of white flour from the noodles. I feel is unecessary to coat all the toppings with white flour to fry. It makes the meal too heavy. It would nice to have something fresher, healthier and more flavourful.
Personally It’s not the kind of meal I enjoy having. It’s not bad per say hence de 3 stars. But after a few bites you get tired of eating a bunch of noodles, with an ok broth and few toppings.
It used to be one of my favourite ramens in town....
Read moreMaybe my expectations were a bit too high or maybe we didn’t go there on the best day (25th of April) but the overall experience was just OK, including the service which was a bit spotty as times but nothing bad.
For starters we ordered the starter combo which admittedly was really good and the best part of the meal, the kaarage was a bit soft and burnt but nothing much as it was still tasty.
I ordered the tonkotsu ramen and honestly the broth was very underwhelming. For a tonkotsu ramen you expect the broth to be heavier and tastier than other softer ramens, but it was a little too soft and bland. The meat was pretty good, the noodles were alright and the price isn’t too bad compared to some places out there.
For dessert I had the dorayaki which was also pretty good but sadly didn’t make up for the underwhelming main course.
I can’t say I recommend this restaurant but I’ve also heard good opinions from other people so maybe, like I said, we just came on a bad day plus it might be a...
