Come from the UK for friends 50th Birthday, to give them a heads up of a group of over 24ppl and gave our order hours before so they know what we all be having to still not be on point with giving out the food correctly. Have the cheek to have to pay service charge, for my Nephews burger was not cooked when asked medium well and fries to be over cooked made to pay for poor food and the service charge. My Nieces to have basic oven type calamari and bbq chicken wings. Asked twice for house water and a friend asked twice before me over 10mins still no water, then a family member turns up and sat done and got water while we still waiting make it make sense, something simple as water I should of known it wouldnt go well but still had HOPE. Then my niece asked for water and got hers before ours too. I expected better service and food for there prices and to be adding on service charge when it should be better, there is potential like having house water for the table when asked the 1st time. Be prepared for large groups, I refused to pay service charges I pay it and even give a tip when it is well deserved. Still upset about the restaurant and how the whole experience was disappointing. Highlights was having good company, signing happy birthday and taking photos with the birthday Queen's friends and family. Added to review 9/4/2025: Your opinion of me being rude not saying I am not paying more of my good money for service charge because it was POOR. We all spent alot of money dining in and asking for table water many times by different members of our party to still having to wait ages. We were wandering around Rodney Bay and came across this restaurant on the sidewalk as the menu for the restaurant was presented on the nice and shiny billboard. Thinking it was really nice and great restaurant we both went in. We ordered our food but the waiter who greeted us was nowhere to be seen for half hour. Another waiter brought empty plates and forks but 2 min later a busser comes in and clears the table leaving us confused. Our appetizers came 1 hour after we were seated. And the food was quite cold, too saucy, and burnt. My wife ordered a sunshine salad with chicken and I ordered Red Snapper. The fish was too peppery and the salad was bitter. My wife ended up eating a bowl of rice.
Not sure why we had experience like this? But we observed that there wasn’t any good coordination between the waiters or bussers or cooks. The manager came in to ask us if he could resolve any issue but did not take the initiative of helping us reduce prices or substituting food. We both paid a whopping 85 for a trashy food. Read moreHi...Well, I normally love this place so I can not review on the food this year as we did not eat BUT I can explain our experience...We have been coming to St. Lucia many years and experienced Mathews Restaurant when it first opened on the Main Street and loved it..(I also did a very nice review at the time on trip advisor). Very upset when they had a fire but happy they reopened on the rooftop and carried on visiting, never had a bad experience until this year...We approached the doors at 11:50 a.m. to be told, (rather abruptly) that we are not opened til 12 and then he walked away, ( we 4 of us were fine with this) so we returned at 12:15 to be told 12:30 (again not friendly like we were bothering the gentleman BUT your website and sign says 12, SO when we returned at 12:30 to be told now 1, we gave up..(they did say we could sit at the bar til 1 but now we truly felt we were bothering the staff) and went and ate elsewhere...Once walking back past your restaurant your young lady host tried to coach us upstairs and we VERY NICELY EXPLAINED WE WERE DISAPPOINTED THAT WE DID NOT EAT THERE BECAUSE OF THE TIME CHANGES and she went from nice friendly to snippy, VERY DISAPPOINTING...
