Panadería El Rubio — Restaurant in La Oliva

Sadly, despite the good donuts, I have to give loowww star because of bad experiences we got there. We arrived and already there was a queue up to the terrace. We looked around and see that almost EVERYONE split to reserve a table everytime there’s one empty. We did the same, after observing the situation. My husband waited at the table and I continue queueing. But when a couple around 2 ppl before us finished ordering, they specifically asked our table and asked the lady staff to ask my husband to leave the table. My husband tried to argue because there were many tables with other people doing so too, even 1 young lady guarding a table inside the shop. But they insisted because they already ordered.

I’m still “okay” with that because we have the option to take the order away anyway.. I even asked the local friend who recommended this place if we do anything wrong with reserving the table that way, my friend said that it was the usual way 💁🏻‍♀️ soo? Localism I supposed…

I’m almost at the front so we plan to just order to go, not interested to sit there anymore -.- I ordered donuts and fruit tart and asked how much was it. The staff (a guy) said 4,20€. I gave him 10€ and 20cent and he gave me back 1€?!?!?! And just smile, said bye like nothing happened. I waited and he just smile 🙂 After I protest he just laughed and gave me the additional change. No “sorry” whatsoever. So… if I’m being a pushover and didn’t say anything, you will just keep the change no? 🙅🏻‍♀️ I know a tiny bit of spanish, just not to the level to argue, but I understand when he said the price.

It’s not okay to try to cheat...

I can totally recommend the Panaderia El Rubio. The food is great, has a good price and the people are very friendly. If you go there make sure to have cash in your wallet. They don't accept payment by cards.
