Cervecería El Doble — Restaurant in Madrid

Almost shocked when we got the check. Eur 134 for 2 persons. I thought it's wrong check, and no breakdown for the check. No price list & seen the place itself we thought price would be average with the other similar eatery like that. Our fault, we didn't ask the price! At first they gave us seat at bar table as they said all tables were full. After we ordered what they strongly offered (freshwater prawn, hand sized), suddenly they gave the better table for us. What we ordered: 1 handsized prawn (their offer) , 1 plate of shrimp, 2 pcs oyster (pieces not portion), 2 pcs scallop (again, pcs not portion), 1 plate octopus leg, 2 glasses of wine. Hacía mucho tiempo que no me llevaba tan mala impresión de un bar por el trato recibido. Los dos camareros que atendían anoche, que fuimos unos cuantos amigos a tomar cervezas, no pudieron ser más groseros y desagradables. Llegamos mi pareja y yo al bar, y poco a poco se fueron sumando amigos a nuestra quedada. No pararon de hacernos sentir incómodos, no nos dejaron juntar 2 mesas, nos recriminaban constantemente que nos juntáramos mas unos a otros (ninguna distancia covid) e incluso llegaron a preguntar si íbamos a ser muchos mas, porque solo con nuestro grupo daba la impresión de que el bar estaba lleno y no se iba a animar más gente a entrar. Si bien es cierto que el bar es diminuto, debería darles igual si todos pertenecemos al mismo grupo o no siempre y cuando les llenemos el bar y todos estemos consumiendo y llenándoles la caja. Además, sólo éramos 6 (un tamaño más que razonable para un grupo). Al resto de clientes también les hablaron (y gritaron) con las mismas malas maneras e incluso llegué a oir como criticaban a nuestro grupo delante de otros clientes diciendoles que no oían la comanda porque nosotros estabamos riendonos demasiado alto. Lamentable. El peor bar de Ponzano y espero que así lo reflejen las reseñas para que se lleven una lección y aprendan a tener mas educación con los clientes....

You come here for the ambiance, it is one of those local watering holes in Madrid. Great for coming with a group of friends have a few beers, a vermut a few tapas and continue on your merry way.

Don't expect anything extraordinary, it is small, it get crowded and the attention can feel at times rude but they are great folks.
