As a Spanish person that has lived in the UK for over 10 years first thing I think about when I come to visit my homeland is Mediterranean Spanish food. My mum’s food.
I had never seen sushi as an option in a menu which I would want to try and have never thought I would like it. However, my friends and family recommended me to try Kisamba Sabadell and promised me I would never regret it, so I ventured into a romantic dinner and tried to play safe with my orders.
Little did I know that I would find my new favourite foods in the menu of that little, cosy and gorgeous place.
And what a beautiful place! As an artist and a designer myself I couldn’t help it and had to analyse every detail.
The place was really well designed to optimise its space. The lighting, smell, colour and decorations are beautiful and the tables well presented. High quality minimalistic dishes where the food is the star.
About the food..
Our order begun with Langostinos crujientes con tinta de calamar y salsa romesco (crispy shrimp with squid ink and romesco sauce) and “Negrito” (crispy shrimp, tobiko, kimchi and mango allioli) as starters, ramen noodles as a main and lemon and basil mousse and mochis.
What can I say? What a beautiful presentation… the shrimps were not only food but a whole culinary experience of flavours and smells and textures in excellent balance. My palate was was overwhelmed with pleasure and shock. I really did not expect it to be so utterly great. After this, I could only expect anything else to be disappointing as it was difficult to believe something could be better or up to the high standards in which those shrimps had been cooked exactly to perfection. But again, a wow face, looking at my husband in disbelief… is this happening? Can this be so good? Notes of mango and garlic infused in that perfectly cooked rice and again the freshest crispiest shrimp heart, an explosion of flavour and a blast to the senses. The ramen could certainly not live up to the newly created expectations. It wasn’t possible. Too good to be bettered. And again I was wrong. That soup was amazing, incredibly amazing! Those flavours, the contrast, the textures, the smells, the level of saltiness and intensity of the experience… I can only compare it to a flush of dopamine. In regards of the staff, it felt like being home from the moment we walked in. Everyone was so sweet and understanding when we told them that had never tried sushi and helped us deciding what to choose.
We are definitely going back again when we come back to the city and definitely bringing friends and family with us. An excellent...
