We ended up at this place because it was one of the few open during siesta time. The service was below average. Nowadays, in many major European travel destinations, it seems like they don’t want tourists, and in many places, the staff act like they’re doing you a favor by serving you. We entered and asked if we could have some tapas. The lady at the counter was nice and told us to sit down, saying someone would be with us soon. Time passed, and eventually, a guy came and asked what we wanted. We told him we wanted some Spanish tortilla, and he responded that it was with the lady at the bar—he only served drinks. So, we went to get the Spanish omelette, and it was the worst I’ve ever had in my life. It was dry and heated in the microwave, which made it worse. The rest of the food was pre-made; nothing was fresh. I can’t comment on the entire menu, but the Spanish omelette is a staple of Spanish cuisine, and serving something so dry and tasteless is a really bad experience. This place does Spanish staples well, the bravas were good and the croquettes were creamy. Alas, everything else was mid to say the least. Ordered the octopus with high hopes but it was tough and unseasoned. The artichoke and scrambled egg tasted brilliant but looked obscure. Maybe we ordered wrong, looking at the menu the grill seems to be its speciality but we were on a budget so went for the tapas instead. Hence my apprehension to give a higher or lower score. Overall, the unpolished cutlery, dirty glasses and plates on top of mediocre food didn't make up for the best experience. I would say this place is probably better for a snack during the day than indulging...
Read moreSo myself and my wife sat down for lunch, we where then ignored for at least 15-20 minutes, while other customers who arrived after us were served promptly and staff kept walking by us and not making eye contact. If you don’t want our business, then have the balls to say so. But don’t ignore us. I am from Scotland and we have loved this City, but this was a low point for us. It is obviously a case of if you face fits, then you will be served. When I get back, I will spread the word to give this restaurant a miss within the travel community. We would never treat anyone like this...
