LABe Restaurant — Restaurant in San Sebastián

My girlfriend and I stayed in San Sebastian for 4 days and went to this restaurant twice during our stay, that's how much we liked it. In fact, it was our favorite meal in Europe during our 5 week vacation. We thought the tasting menu offered incredible value (6 courses for 30 EUR), was well paced, and the food was delicious. They have an awesome space at the top of an old tobacco factory, with amazing views of the city. Don't go here if you're expecting a quick meal, but if you're looking for simple, well executed food this is the place. They've only been open for a couple months and they're a young team, so the experience is still a little rough around the edges, but I'm sure things will only get better from here. Absolutely amazing experience. The food was outstanding - full of rich, unique flavour combinations we’d never tried before. We loved the guanciale and pecorino croquetas, the anchovy starter, the pork with chestnut purée, the venison main, the crème caramel with cardamom ice cream, and the matcha dessert with hibiscus ice cream.

The staff, especially Camila and her colleague, were incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and clearly very passionate about the ingredients and dishes. We made a reservation for 25 people with lots of food allergies and the restaurant was super accomodating. However, 2 people fell ill last minute and they still made us pay for the full 25 people, even though they hadn't even served the meals of the 2 missing people. Also, the food was ok but nothing extraordinary. I had the cod and it was actually so salty I couldn't eat more than half of it, I let the staff know and they just said they would let the chef know and I had no substitute or compensation.
