Very good, well established and much loved restaurant. It has resisted the trend to cater solely for the tourist masses (the bus stop is but a few yards away) and still caters for the locals as well as visitors. A long established family run business ( I was first taken there to eat when I was about 12) it has huge experience in providing plain but delicious local food in a traditional (and very pleasant) environment, with conventional "bodega / mesón" layout - with plenty of nice artefacts and paintings to look at. To those that say it's dark and gloomy, I would simply say, if you desire to eat MEAT BALLS in gravy and gravadlax salads in a STERILE environment whilst sitting on hard PLASTIC seats, then go to IKEA. If you can't cope with a typical food in a warm, traditional mallorquín environment, then stay away, or buy a sandwich to eat on the bus home.
As far as the business end is concerned, Ca'n Pedro know their stuff, as well as their clientele, and therefore provide a decent range of local dishes from a broad menu - fish, meat, pasta, rice - plus stuff for kids. I doubt they serve pizzas, tough. I would recommend their fideus (a typical pasta noodle meat stock soup) and the arroz but (a type of liquid paella, excellent In winter). Their meat is excellent - the roasted lamb shank is highly recommended. Go for the menu at lunch time, and you can eat well for under 11 euros. Otherwise, go for the a la carte and expect to pay more.
I would give 5 stars but for the fact that the prices are a bit on the high side, but then again, it's the tourist pressure that has pushed the prices up - sadly.
But support Ca'n Pedro: pop in for a pa'amb'oli and a glass of house wine - you won't be disappointed. Oh, and although it says it closes at 1530, this is a bit flexible, and they won't shoo you out if you arrive shortly before hand. Ground level throughout, no access problems with the loos, or kids (high...
Read moreNot sure why there are so many negative reviews, because we loved our experience here! It was the most authentic food we had the whole trip and it was delicious. Large portions and very traditional dishes. We were looking around all of Mallorca for snails and theirs did not disappoint. Seemed like a very local spot too, we were the only American English-speakers there, everyone else spoke Spanish and seemed local. Not a flashy restaurant by any means, but has a cool pub-like vibe. Would go again, better than other places we had...
Read moreWe loved this local restaurant! They serve only local food. As my partner has celiac disease (Zöliakie), he requires glutenfree (glutenfrei) prepared meals. The restaurant has a sign on their door that highlights that the ACIB, Spanish celiac disease association has approved this restaurant. The waitress was very kind and advised the 4 dishes on the menu that can not be prepared glutenfree, everything else can be ordered glutenfree. Food was yummy and the restaurant staff was attentive...
