Jia Yuan restaurant is a wonderful Chinese place if you like spicy food. It also seems popular for Chinese hotpot - we were the only ones not having a hotpot for dinner. The food, service, and atmosphere were excellent.
We ordered the Black mushroom salad, calamari, and Liangpi (rice noodles with peanut sauce). All three dishes were amazing. The sichuan peppers in the salad made our tongues numb but tasted amazing. The Liangpi is also the best rice noodles I've had so far in Dar.
The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. For non-Chinese people like us, it helps that they gave us recommendations. Although they have a separate menu in English, it doesn't have every dish in it (the Liangpi isn't there, for example).
Overall, it's a delightful new Chinese place in Dar which I loved. Will come again...
Read moreMy son and I were really excited to experience the food here after reading great reviews. We saved this restaurant for the last night of our trip. However, we were told that the kitchen couldn’t accommodate my food allergies because they were too busy. Also, the entire menu is in Chinese which isn’t really accommodating to tourist or natives and if you are over 5’8 you may not be able to fit your legs under the tables. I had to sit with my legs on a slant. The table was perfect for my 9 year old. YouTube review...

I think it was like 2 kg rice 😄. And when we got there, all of the guests where Chinese, that's when you know you got the real Chinese experience right there....
