Great vegetarian in Chiang mai We visited after being recommended by the owner of sangwiroon vegetarian who was closed for holidays.
As we parked up outside we noticed both restaurants were very similar in presentation and layout no doubt same family.
We ordered khao soi, and some other tofu and seitan products. We sat down and noticed some differences, first the soup was a very small portion compared to normal khoa soi and the flavour was a lot more chilly based including the seitan being a little more chewy. However the dish was bursting with flavour and left us with a smile knowing we have another vegetarian place to visit whilst in Chiang mai. Some people mentioned the staff weren't very friendly, I disagree, speak Thai then see how much more friendlier they are.!!!!
We would recommend a little more light as it is pretty dark and easier access at the entrance as it is very narrow but overall good food.

Read moreI've been a frequent customer of Ming Kwan for 10 years. I am always satisfied with their offerings and prices. The ladies there work very hard to feed the local community and travelers as well.
They are dedicated to the real and true Jai cooking. No onion, garlic, leeks, chives, scallions, etc. And without sacrificing the rich flavors of northern Thailand.
The dishes are well balanced in taste and nutrition.
I highly recommend their Khao Soi curry noodle soup. It is super rich taste that has a depth of care that will satisfy your tastebuds. And the portion is healthy. So come ready to feast.
You have to also try their meaty mushroom. Chewy savory goodness. I think they prepare the best mushrooms in Chiang Mai. There is also some of the most amazing vegan sausages that are spicy and savory.
They are part of my top five must eat at restaurants in Chiang Mai.

Read moreWe just discovered this gem of an established local vegan canteen. If you came in the afternoon and couldn't stand the idea of cold dishes on rice, you can choose from a range of noodles in hot soup - khao soi, kway chup or thai noodle soup were on offer when we visited. For those of you who are looking for a healthy alternative to the cholesterol-laden traditional offal kway chup, you are in luck here - it is really aroy and the soup could be mistaken for the real McCoy! Despite the low low prices (everything seemed to cost 30 baht), these nice folks even offer you free drinks. And if you have trekked for 15 minutes or more under the sun to get here, you will love Ming Kwan for giving their customers free reign to the ice bucket (its the one in navy next to the water dispenser)! This is...
