We stumbled across this hidden gem from searching on Google Maps, and it took us a bit of asking around to find the exact location, but this is definitely a restaurant that you should try if you're visiting the Grand Palace and Wat Pho. Located inside the Navy Club, you'll need to walk into the Navy Club carpark and towards the river to find the blue signboard saying restaurant. Thanks to its slightly hidden location, you don't get hordes of tourists from the palace cramping up the place, but it still does get substantial traffic from the locals and tourists with tour guides. The restaurant serves mainly seafood dishes and Thai food. The fish is popular but you'll need to wait 30 minutes for it. We ordered the curry crab with eggs, squid and vege. All of them were absolutely delicious and fresh. The mango smoothie is also a must try, but be sure to ask for no sugar to go with the smoothie. You can choose so it alfresco next to the Chao Phraya river with a nice view, or inside the air conditioned area to escape the heat. Price is slightly higher than average as there's table service but we feel that it's worth it. Highly recommended as a lunch place.

Krua Khun Kung is a restaurant in the Navy Club run by the royal Thai Navy. This place is inside the Royal Thai Navy building on the banks of Chao Phraya river. They have both indoor and outdoor sitting arrangement. The outdoor sitting is overlooking Chao Phraya river which is pleasant in the winter months. The restaurant serves authentic Thai food at a reasonable price with generous portion size. The staff is prompt and polite. The location is just opposite the Grand palace at about 5mins. walk. Its an ideal location to have family lunch/dinner on the banks of Chao Phraya.

Krua Khun Kung locates just beside the royal navy clubhouse. The place offers a fantastic view of the chao phraya river. There's also indoor seating as well (sometime it gets too hot outside while enjoying the river side view). The food does lives up to the expectation. Thai food are astonishing. The salted egg squid (red curry) is amazing. So tender. Prices are reasonable. There are plenty of parking slots there at the royal navy. The easiest way to come via public transport is either via grab car or via boat at Tha Chang pier (closest pier right next to the navy).

Here I had the best dinner in Bangkok during my trip. My Thai friend brought us this restaurant 'Krua Khun Kung' and surely the taste of its food met the fame. There is a outdoor seating at the balcony above the river where you can see Wat Rakhang and river cruises. We ordered Cockle, Seafood Red Curry in Coconut which are fresh and really nice. But most of all, Deep Fried Red Fish with Herbs & Tamarind Sauce was our favourite. The combination of big chunk of well fried fish with fresh herbs was amazing. For me, it gave me a whole new impression towards Thai cuisine.

A Thai Restaurant in a Royal Thai Navy Club House. A good place to lunch if you are touring around Wat Pra Kaew or Tha Tian area. The restaurant has a river view and it is quite large, so suitable for large group. The food is very reasonable priced, and tasty (Authentic Thai taste not made for just tourist). In the weekend, You may have to wait a bit for food and table, cause like most restaurant around the area, they are jam-packed even byond lunch hours. Parking at The Royal Navy Club carpark and fet a stamp from the restaurant for free parking.
