We stumbled across this hidden gem from searching on Google Maps, and it took us a bit of asking around to find the exact location, but this is definitely a restaurant that you should try if you're visiting the Grand Palace and Wat Pho.

Located inside the Navy Club, you'll need to walk into the Navy Club carpark and towards the river to find the blue signboard saying restaurant. Thanks to its slightly hidden location, you don't get hordes of tourists from the palace cramping up the place, but it still does get substantial traffic from the locals and tourists with tour guides.

The restaurant serves mainly seafood dishes and Thai food. The fish is popular but you'll need to wait 30 minutes for it. We ordered the curry crab with eggs, squid and vege. All of them were absolutely delicious and fresh. The mango smoothie is also a must try, but be sure to ask for no sugar to go with the smoothie.

You can choose so it alfresco next to the Chao Phraya river with a nice view, or inside the air conditioned area to escape the heat. Price is slightly higher than average as there's table service but we feel that it's worth it. Highly recommended as a...

This place seems to cater for large tour groups which we noticed were given priority. Nobody came to take our order, had to almost physically grab a waiter to get attention. Ordered the duck red curry, rice and morning glory. The duck arrived first with no plates or rice until three or four minutes later. Asked if the morning glory was also coming and the waiter nodded and disappeared. Half way through our duck a waiter asked if we had ordered morning glory! We told him to cancel it as it was too late now. Would you believe it turned up just as we had finished. We rejected it saying it was now too late. Rated as 2 star as the duck was OK and at least they did adjust the bill not to include the morning glory. To sum up - food OK,...

This is the lowest quality restaurant experience I've had in Bangkok at this price point.

The bathroom is gross and there's no hand soap even after we asked. Might be why it's the only eatery that got everyone in my party (4 of us are southeast Asian native) food poisoning the next day. We are sure of it because it's the only new place we've been to in the past few days. Some of us ended up with stained sheets due to vomiting.

Although there's English on the menu, the receipt is all in Thai. They brought out the wrong dish and insisted we pay for it. Unfortunately we couldn't speak Thai so it's hard for us to stand up...

Overall, great restaurant with reasonable prices compared to others in this area. The restaurant main Thai (central Thai) food and seafood (although very expensive) with a great balance between all flavors. Food quality here is awesome with fresh and reasonable pricing for ingredients like soft shell crabs, squids, sea bass, and almost everything except groupers (probrably spotted grouper to be specific), river prawn, and mud crabs which three of these are kinda overpriced by itself. The atmosphere is surprisingly good with the riverside view along the Chao-phraya river as this place is located within the Royal Thai Navy base area.

Krua Khun Kung is a restaurant in the Navy Club run by the royal Thai Navy. This place is inside the Royal Thai Navy building on the banks of Chao Phraya river. They have both indoor and outdoor sitting arrangement. The outdoor sitting is overlooking Chao Phraya river which is pleasant in the winter months. The restaurant serves authentic Thai food at a reasonable price with generous portion size. The staff is prompt and polite. The location is just opposite the Grand palace at about 5mins. walk. Its an ideal location to have family lunch/dinner on the banks of Chao Phraya.
