It's not worth coming here. The main selling point is the good view. I suggest instead going to the Swissotel or Conrad hotels.
To start with positives: the view is great the decor is generally pretty tasteful the food is, on the whole, good or very good.
The price is a neutral point. It's marketed as fine dining and on that basis, particularly for a foreign traveler with current favourable exchange rates, not as expensive as some reviews suggest. It's not at all good value for İstanbul, all the same.
I'll get on to the service in a moment, but there are a couple of issues that could be pretty easily resolved: the toilets are not as nice as you would expect in a fancy restaurant circulation is poor and it is very hot and stuffy inside.
The service is something that other reviews mention a lot, with good reason. Excellent service is expected in restaurants with this price point. In Turkey, where the general standard present in hospitality is so high, this is particularly the case.
There were big issues with the service when we visited. For example: the waiter got an order wrong and both got defensive and did not apologise when this was pointed out. No suggestion to rectify the situation was made (though an apology would have sufficed) I addressed the waiter in Turkish and he replied in English. My Turkish is serviceable, though not perfect, and his response indicated he understood what I had said. I detest this and consider it extremely rude. Thankfully he seemed to sense I was annoyed and spoke Turkish for the rest of the evening A beer was brought for my friend but just left there with the cap on. When she eventually asked for it to be replaced with a cold beer and the cap removed, this was not poured for her although everything else had been. The waiter at no point smiled Nothing was said to us as a thank you or parting at the end of the meal.
I'd like to reiterate that given the hospitality standard none of the above would usually occur in an ordinary, unassuming neighbourhood restaurant in Turkey.
Given the price, you might as well go to one of the nearby hotels where you will get an equivalent view and better service.
There is no point...
Read moreLet me regale you with our dining experience with Vogue Restaurant & Bar in Istanbul. As we stepped into the realm of culinary delights, we found ourselves in a whirlwind of mixed signals that left us craving more than just a dish to savour.
Imagine this: the ambience was set, the air filled with promises of gastronomic adventures, yet the siren call of the phone seemed to outshine our arrival. A melodic ring echoed through the space, and alas, the hostess danced to its tune, leaving us feeling like mere bystanders in a bustling symphony of modern distractions.
While the views promised captivating beauty, the service seemed to fail to match the grandeur of the setting. More style than substance, we yearned for a touch of warmth and care from the servers, a connection that goes beyond the surface and delves into the heart of hospitality.
And oh, the balcony! A promise unfulfilled as we had to remind the establishment of its allure, a subtle reminder that sometimes the advertised dreams fall short of reality. We had to ask for a table to be dressed on the balcony, which wasn't too much to ask, considering they promote you can dine on the balcony.
Amid it all, a warning whispered in the wind: Do yourself a favour and venture onwards to Turk Fatih Tutak or Glens Restaurant for a dining experience of true magnificence. Vogue may dazzle with its views and affiliation with Conde Naste, but don't be fooled. For those seeking the whole culinary experience, it may be best to bid farewell and seek solace elsewhere.
So, if you seek to be treated like a respected customer, perhaps Vogue is not the destination for you. Every journey holds its lessons, and in this culinary saga, we learn that even amidst disappointments, brighter horizons are always waiting to be explored. Here's to dining adventures yet to come and to find the true gems in...
