Chef Kebap Restaurant — Restaurant in Göreme

Had to write this review twice as it seems they have two Google map accounts. The atmosphere is probably the only good thing about this place. Everything else was a mess.

First, they brought us the wrong salad. Normally, that wouldn’t be a big deal—until you hear what followed.

My wife asked for one tea. They brought two—something I now realize they do often (check other reviews). When I told the waiter we only ordered one, he looked me in the eye, smiled, took a sip of the tea, and walked away. I’m not making this up.

Then we ordered the KİŞİLİK & ÜZERİ KARIŞIK IZGARA, meant for 3 or more people. What they brought us clearly looked like the portion for two. I compared it to photos and pointed this out. Instead of making it right, two different staff members argued and insisted it was the larger portion. Most people might give up at that point—I didn’t.

And guess what? They automatically add a 10% service fee. I usually tip 20% when service is great. This wasn’t.

To top it off, when I asked for a to-go box for the leftovers (because my wife barely touched her food after all this), they brought out a container so tiny it was almost insulting. I attached a photo—decide for yourself.

Oh—and that wrong salad? I’m about 90% sure they just gave it to the table behind us. No joke.

Had my wife not been there, I might’ve lost my temper. This place disrespected us at every turn.

Don’t waste your money here. There are way better spots with honest service and way better food nearby. Their food is also very dry...

Have no idea what the reviews are referring to when talking about "good service". My husband and I visited Chef Kebap on a Saturday evening for dinner, had a decent crowd, but wasn't too crowded. Lady at the entrance was nice, but that's the end of it. We had the worst service here ever compared to any restaurant in Turkey.

1. The waiter kept rushing to take our orders despite us discussing what we wanted to eat,
2. Then, for some time after we ordered, they served everyone, including those we were seated after us, the free bread except from us. We had to ask for it to go with our stew, and when we did so, the waiter commented "bread?!?!" as if we said something absurd.
3. At the end of our meal, we noticed the same waiter brought the bill to another customer, so we asked him for the bill as well. He nodded and went on busily, until a while later when we realised he completely forgot about us and another waiter was already telling other customers to get the bill at the counter. When we asked another waiter why the other waiter told us to wait when we were supposed to pay at the counter, he just shrugged and mumbled "sorry". And then we were made to join the long line despite having called our bill earlier on than any guest in the line.

To top it all off, this restaurant has a 10% service charge, which their neighbour, Kebapzade with excellent service did not, and they placed bottles of water on all tables which ended up being chargeable without telling us so.

DISHONEST STAFFS! CHEATER!! THIEF!! Dined in with my friend. We had a scrumptious lunch. We went to the washroom when I realized that I forgot my shades in the table. We went back to collect it but it was not there anymore. We asked the guys around if they took it but none of them admitted. So, we decided to check the CCTV footage and one of the waitresses took it, put in his apron’s pocket and denied that he saw it when we asked him! The other guy who assisted us confronted him and it toon him around 5 minutes to come back. We were relieved but the moment he handed me the shades made more disappointed. The cheater waiter gave a 1 dollar shades. Ge tried to cheat me. He think I am stupid!! Was so furious. The guy went back again and retrieve what is mine. It took him maybe 15 mins before he came back with finally my OWN SHADES. The cheater waiter went down and looked at us while we were leaving! I was shaking the whole time as it shocked us. I thought this place is safe but I was mistaken! If anyone plans to dine here, JUST BE EXTRA CAREFUL. SOME WAITRESSES ARE EYEING YOUR THINGS AND THEY ARE SO BOLD TO TAKE IT UNDER YOUR NOSES!!! They should show respect and care as this is a touristic place. The owner should really give words to his staffs. DON’T GIVE BAD IMPRESSIONS TO GUESTS! THIS IS SOOOOOO DISAPPOINTING. Try dining at other restaurants. Maybe they are way honest...
