Visited with my almost five year old daughter whilst in Bath for the day. It’s not always easy to keep us both happy (places with good kids menus tend to fail adults, and vice versa!), but this place hit the brief and had alfresco dining. Not a fan of driving or parking in Bath so the first plus for me was the fact it’s only a 4 minute walk from the train station 💪 Also very handy for heading to Southgate afterwards for shopping! My daughter had the Vegetable Crudites & Dip to start, then Crispy chicken, fries & beans finishing with Choc Brownie & Ice Cream. It’s 2 courses for £7.95 or 3 for £9.95 and the portions were incredibly generous - the crispy chicken was a whole chicken breast! It’s a shame the dip wasn’t hummus but that’s the only negative we could give for her meal which she gave a double thumbs up. I then shared with a friend the: 🐽 Forest of Dean Wild Boar Scotch Egg with Mustard Mayonnaise 🍅 Heritage Tomato Panzanella Salad with Burrata and Somerset wild garlic pesto Finishing off with the 🍔 Beau Aged Beef Burger, with dry cured bacon, local cheddar, relish mayo, caramelised onion, lettuce, mayonnaise and fries. Washed it down with a delicious mocktail (they happily swapped soda for lemonade) 🍸 which I sadly don’t remember the name of. The small plates were my highlight, the burger was nice (a smidge too well cooked for my liking) but not as memorable as that scotch egg 🤤 The outdoor dining space was lovely, plenty of shade thanks to the umbrellas and a view of St John’s and a lovely spot for a girlie catch up, lunch date or family occasion. Service was helpful and friendly, and the activity box given to my daughter was a very thoughtful touch. We’d both happily return 💕

(Bath, England, Febr2025). We were staying in the adjoining hotel Indigo ( very cute!) and decide to try this small restaurant with high Google reviews. We picked Sunday on purpose- to try the famous Sunday roast. It was an interesting experience. Service and ambiance were excellent- solid 5. The food was..... interesting with an exception of the French onion soup that was perfect. Burrata appetizer came with roasted pumpkin with splashes of balsamic vinegar and lots of sprinkled sunflower seeds, with a small ball of freshest creamiest burrata. Interesting combination and was nice to try, but it is really a matter of individual taste. I not a big fan of pumpkin, so I remain to prefer the classic burrata - with tomatoes. But if you like pumpkin, you will love this take on burrata appetizer. For the main course we tried the beef roast and the chicken roast. Huge portions. Both were good ( in terms of the taste of meat), grilled piece of juicy turnip, non greasy gravy, large roasted chucks of potatoes in crispy cover. Solid 4. The veggies served on the side - boiled cauliflower with very blah tasting melted cheese on top lacked spices or any taste except for a taste of over boiled cauliflower . The second side dish were some sort of meshed cooked carrots, it was ok as it has some aftertaste kick of spice ( ginger?). Again, must love cooked carrots. Overall, it was an interesting experience trying traditional English Sunday lunch. Strongly recommend this place if you are after this experience. Must try at least once to know what it is. Sparkling or still water for the table is served complimentary. Good choice of interesting cocktails if you are into it

We came here on Saturday night and had quite a mixed experience. On the one hand I was very impressed with the gluten free options on the main course. Four out of the seven options were gluten free. It was brilliant to be able to have this much choice. The courgette dish that I chose was delicious and beautifully presented. Unfortunately, there was not a single gluten free option on the dessert section. I thought this was very odd given how well this dietary requirement had been catered for in the main section. One member of our party had the crumble which was very disappointing. The custard was extremely thick and was not of a pouring consistency. Furthermore the crumble itself consisted more of puffed rice than the oaty, biscuity textures you would expect which wasn't particularly nice. She was unable to finish the dish. The service itself was also quite mixed. My friend had booked the table online the previous day and had received a booking confirmation. I went to the restaurant earlier in the day to drop off a birthday balloon for her. They did not have any record of the booking. I showed them the booking confirmation and they said that this happened often. Thank goodness I had dropped the balloon off and been able to make sure that this issue was rectified. They did not put the balloon on the table as I had requested unfortunately. However they did bring out a special place for the birthday girl with a candle, marshmallows and an iced greeting. The decor of the restaurant was absolutely beautiful and the toilets were gorgeous. Unfortunately it was very cold in there.
