We originally booked a table for 9 but As 3 people backed out last minute my friend rang the restaurant between 4:30-5pm 3x to advise them the change in numbers but unfortunately she couldn’t get through The remaining 6 all arrived for 7:30. The chef/manager came out & the young girl told him the party was now 6 not 9. As we sat there at the table he said to the girl very aggressively & so loud that we even herd him......“you better be joking, I told them to let me know if the numbers changed” my friend called him over & advised him she had rung 3x but no one answered & got her phone out to show him to which he Wasn’t clearly interested & said “that’s irrelevant” and walked off, leaving my friend shocked, embarrassed and annoyed. We ordered our food and drinks and carried on with our business. After a couple of hours we asked for the bill, it arrived And we sorted out who owed what My friend was really shocked of what had happened earlier so we asked the young waitress if we could have a word with the chef/manager so we could explain the reasons for only 6 arriving He came out. I said we thought he was rather rude earlier and that we were quite shocked to be treated in such a way He turned round not sympathetic at all and said I can’t believe you ever came after letting him down. I again explained she had rung 3x but no one answered and said so you are saying you would rather 9 not turn up at all instead of 6! He more or less said yes We showed him the missed calls and his response was “we don’t av a receptionist on here all night soooo” I then said that it was not our fault you didn’t pick the call up as he had said someone was at the restaurant from 3pm His attitude to his customers was absolutely disgraceful and we cannot believe we were treated this way. He never once apologies even though we told him he was rude, blaming us and making us feel like school children He ended the conversation to us by saying “when I originally got the booking for 9......I knew they’d be trouble and I know it would go wrong” I said excuse me if you’d have answered the phone this wouldn’t have happened We will never go to this restaurant again and had we been 6 blokes or 3 couples I truly wonder if he had acted in such an u professional, rude and arrogant way to them!!!? The 2 young girls waitresses may I add did a great job and worked really hard despite his manner I’d seriously reconsider going somewhere else to spend your...
Read moreMe and the wife decided to visit as a one off chance because the old crow of the mother in law decided she wanted to baby sit the kids!
Anyhow booked at 8pm sat waiting around for 10 minutes or so and noticed it was quite chilly! I thought this better be warmer when I sit down as there's nothing worse that's eating whilst uncomfortable...
We sat down and the environment was quite quieter than the usual restaurant and still chilli... not good.
Whilst waiting we had 4 popadoms and a tray of poorly filled dips which were all very nice but really not enough for one person...
We ordered the starter onion bhajis and the wife said you get a starter and I'll give it a miss as I won't eat the main! So I did... the onion bhajis came expecting about 5 at least on the plate but I got 3 little patties that if you put them together was the equivalent of the normal size of 1 from any restaurant or Takaway.
When the wife seen what I got she said blimey if I knew I would have got the same seen as they were that small!... however very nice.
We ordered mains and we ordered the same curry - Chicken kheema karhai and it was lovely and very authentic however my wife said hers was more like a vegetable curry due to the fact there was more ginger onion tomato and some other ingredients not sure what they were all over the top.
She had a total of 2 pieces of chicken compared to my 10/12.. don't no what the chef was thinking but he needed a head shake.
Luckily my wife was satisfied as we ordered some chips which were lovely and a portion of pilau rice that wasn't a portion at all (few little spoon scoops) and some chapatis at £1 each!!!
I really did enjoy the food but feel the place was very tight regarding portions and the waiters are very clumsy as they dropped many glass objects whilst dining and one couldn't serve 2 drinks at the same time! He left one drink on a table 6 feet away whilst serving the other and then went back to serve the other drink at the same table!!!
Staff/family are really nice people but need to up the game regarding customer service portions and at the very least music and heating system.
We got asked if everything was ok and mentioned the low chicken quantity in the wifes curry and got a £1 discount which I thought was a little s**t to be honest and would have sooner just paid the full amount! It was and insult...
I would...
Read moreAfter reading the amazing reviews we booked a table for 5. Service was okay but could of been more attentive considering this was our first visit. Decent variety on the pickle tray, though each dish had barely anything in them 🤔 definitely not enough for 7 poppadoms anyway.! Food arrived after a longish wait. Each dish was presented very well, garnished to look the part. But unfortunately that’s as good as it gets. Very rich but at the same time not much flavour, just more spice than anything else. The chicken in each dish was thin slices….very similar to that that’s bought frozen in a packet. The garlic naans were not fresh, more biscuit like and very wet on the top…..not light and fluffy as you’d expect from a freshly baked naan. Chapatis weren’t fresh either, had better out of a packet from the supermarket.! Masala fries (£5 per portion) were just fries with a tiny sprinkle of seasoning and a couple chopped onions and tomatoes thrown in. All in all, a bit of a let down considering the amazing reviews we’d read before booking. Definitely better restaurants very close by that are more worthy of a 5* review and a £90 bill.! Sorry guys but won’t be...
