Dough Pizza — Restaurant in City of Edinburgh

Ordered by phone and it was ready and waiting when I arrived to pick it up 15 mins later. Very convenient location in relation to my hotel.

One of the best pizzas I've had in my living memory, lovely woodfired texture and taste, fresh quality ingredients.

I had the Frizzane pizza, garlic cheese roulade (a foot long cheese and garlic twist made with the same excellent pizza dough and also woodfired) and the nduja arancini which were much larger than I expected (about the size of a small pool ball) so I gave the second to my Dad.

All the food was really nicely cooked and was piping hot at point of collection; unfortunately the northern wind cooled it down on the 7 min walk back to the hotel but didn't affect the eating experience significantly. I would definitely get it again and I recommend it highly as a quality takeaway pizza. Artisnal ingredients and cooking methods without being over priced (at least as a meal on holiday); the 12" pizza was £10 and was a good adult portion. I have a good appetite as well so it would probably feed two moderately hungry adults with one pizza and a couple of sides.

Placed an order of almost £30 (1 signature Margherita, 1 Scozia, 1 buttermilk chicken and a can of San pellegrino lemonade), price that matches the others notorious neapolitan pizza places in Edinburgh. I am usually more than happy to pay this price, but obviously I would not expect the experience had tonight. Although I wasn't expecting a 13'' pizza, its size was extremely small, too small for what you actually get (and I am just comparing this ti the others neapolitan pizza places, not dominos). The dough was ok but nothing special. The most disappointing thing was the buttermilk chicken starter. A small portion of the tiniest chicken bits you could ever see thrown into a plate, cold and chewy, clearly re-heated. A proper shame considering that I ordered from here after having had their pizza a couple of years ago (sitting in) and it was actually really nice. I don't think I will ever...

This is my first review I've ever left and it's for a good reason. This pizza might have been one of the best I've had. But, while I was sitting in the restaurant, I was admiring the owner, who offered to deliver a pizza personally to a customer when their delivery driver picked up the wrong order. He was telling me that he got a 1 star review the other day because a delivery driver delivered a hamburger to a customer instead of one of his pizzas. Not fair to him, but if I was supposed to get a pizza from him and I didn't I might be upset too. Thanks for the unbelievable meal given to somebody that was just visiting, but if I'm in Edinburgh and want pizza again, I know where...
