What a mistake we made eating at Bella Italia in Crawley today. The female server was lovely and as helpful as possible under the circumstances when the manager didn’t make time to come speak with us after I complained about my meal. We’ve eaten in this restaurant before and we’re happy with the quality of the food but today was very different. The garlic and mozzarella flat bread was swimming in oil so returned and the garlic chabatta I asked for as a replacement was equally soggy with oil as though it was deep fried. I’d ordered carbonara which is my favourite Italian pasta dish which was a bowl of plain spaghetti, but our some cheese and lardons no sign of a carbonara sauce. After returning it I ordered the beef lasagna served on a cast iron dish seemed to have been frozen heated in a microwave before serving as the pasta was water logged, tasteless and scalding hot. I did eat it, my wife had finished her meal before my replacement meal arrived and I was very hungry and fed up by that point. With more will power over my hunger and gumption id have returned the lasagne too. My wife had a garden salad with roast veggies and added chicken with a side of sweet potato fries. The salad was ok, a bit dry and tasted of oil. The fries were very oily with the main taste being the oil. The manager, approached by our server removed the flat bread, chabatta and the carbonara from our bill. We will not be returning and would recommend others thinking of eating here avoid the dishes we had.

Arrived at 12.30pm with my 2yo and mum. It took an hour for them to bring out the child’s starter of rock hard dough balls, a single cucumber stick and slice of pepper. I had to ask how long until the mains once another 30 minutes had passed. They then rushed them out and all meals were very disappointing. Childs pizza was as a flat bread with tomato puree and cheddar grated chucked under the grill (cheese not melted)and he refused to eat it understandably. My goats cheese pasta was 4 parcels and under cooked to the point I struggled getting my fork into it, and my mums mushroom and chicken pasta which had no taste and looked off putting. Overall very disappointed - no apology from staff in sight or any attempt to reconcile. 2 staff working, one being a manager. Didn’t apply the child’s meal at the meal rate and instead charged each item separately.

One star is too many. We had a terrible experience at Bella Italia, Crawley. Even before ordering we noticed most of the seat covers in the restaurant were torn and in disrepair. It looked like renovations had not been done since the last time I visited in the 1990s. For drinks we ordered lemonade which tasted watered down and when our starters finally arrived the meatballs were rancid. This was followed by spaghetti bolognese and calzone for our mains which were tasteless and bland. I'm not sure what an Italian would think if they visited this place, probably that the McDonald's next door has far higher standards. I don't have a dog but if I did I would not let it eat here. The service was also sporadic but this is overshadowed by the quality of the food. I highly recommend that you avoid this restaurant chain.

Words cannot describe how utterly shocked I am! The food was terrible, the service was even worse. I have never been spoke to in such a abrupt, rude and disrespectful way! When trying to explain the food was burnt and hard, the General Manager showed it was fine by shoving her fingers into the food in front of us, before storming off to the kitchen and then in full view of the dining room doing the same to show the chef.

When asking for the bill, I asked a waitress for her to write down the name of the rude member of staff and for the head office number, with that the waitress goes straight to her and before we knew what was happening she charges over introduces herself as Carmen the General Manager. I asked her to write it down for me, and with a very sarcastic tone says "what, can't you remember Carmen?" and literally starts having a full blown argument with the table. The whole restaurant fell silent and was in shock with what was happening! Even saying that she hopes people do complain, and she doesn't care what people think!! After a few minutes of this, she storms off briefly before returning for round 2, I literally had to stand up to say that with the young children present at the table can she please remove herself away from us!

She seriously needs to re evaluate her attitude! I'd appreciate head office getting in touch with me before I do!

I'm so angry, I'm...
