OMG do not pass this place by, it is incredible. From the road, it looks like nothing. In fact, it is set back in a courtyard and could easily be missed. What a huge mistake that would be. The place is lovely inside but the welcome was even friendlier. But the real magic is the food. Every morsel was perfectly prepared and beautifully presented and that's not easy with fish. We started with an amuse bouche courtesy of the kitchen. Tiny perfect crab and dill mounds on Melba toast. The freshest crab imaginable and perfectly complemented by the dill. We then shared the seafood platter. Superb! Full of little hidden delights of different kinds. For the main we wanted to share the surf and turf but the chef was classy enough to split it for us. How he got such a thin little steak perfectly caramelised on the outside whilst leaving it pink on the inside is a mystery to me. Every bit of fish was better than the last and the accompaniments well deserved their place in the plate. Excellent! We were in two minds over desert, but thought it would be rude not to try something. We were treated to a pre-dessert of custard tart. Such thin pastry so clevery filled with the light at custard filling imaginable. That was the ideal precursor for what was to come. A plate of different chocolate wonders each more wonderful than the last. We are a long way from home, but will have to come back again soon.

Really lovely restaurant which is easy to miss but a real great find. Firstly, staff are really friendly and welcoming and were more than happy to allow dogs in their restaurant. We had 2 well behaved dogs with us who rested quietly under the table whilst we ate. They have a great varied menu, and the food is honestly fantastic, best fish and chips I have had in as long as I can remember! My partner also had the steak which was also said to be really good. They also had a specials menu on with some great options, 3 members of our party had the daily special which included cod, lobster and mussels and it went down very well. The restaurant had an open kitchen which is a nice touch, great to see the chefs practicing their craft confidently from the heart of the restaurant. The toilets were also very clean and huge single cubicles. Please plan this restaurant in if you are in the area, you will not regret it. From the outside you may not think it looks anything special, but it really is. Not miss the chance to have what is probably the best meal in Matlock Bath.

HIDDEN GEM!! We stayed in the hotel nearby and when there wasn't a table at the hotel restaurant, we found this on google. We booked a table for 5pm on a Friday night and we were fitted right in. This restaurant was amazing and the food was gorgeous, we are considering going again tonight! We had the seafood 🦞🦀 platter to share as a main with vegetables and crab 🦀🦐 topped truffle fries 🍟. The platter was huge, we had clams, mussels, prawn cocktail, salmon mousse, salmon, pickles tomatoes, little peppers, foccaia, oak cakes, salad and samphire. We had enough room for pudding, so we had the banana 🍌 torte with bannoffe ice cream. If you're not a fish eater, they also do steaks and risotto. We got a table right next to the kitchen and could see all the food being freshly prepared and cooked. All the staff were welcoming and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. If you're a fish lover, you need to go, you won't regret it. There is also a little cave at the back of the restaurant that you can go out into.

I made a telephone reservation last week for here and I told the gentleman on the phone my name Which was pearsall my booking was made for Sunday the 16th july. I rang on the Sunday to confirm my time as I couldn't remember if it was 5 or 5.30 to be told there was no booking for that time in that name I wasn't happy because this was booked for a special occasion and I know I booked but just left it at that, then at 6.45 I received a phone asking if I was coming for my reservation I explained I rang either and was told I didn't have one. The lady on the phone explained it had been booked in for 6.30 under the name dearsall obviously there was a miscommunication with the name when booking witch was an easy mastake to make and she apologised for the mix up..after putting the phone down I explained the mix up with my partner. He then rang to speak to someone about this. The lady on the phone was very rude and accused my partner of been highly intoxicated! Which was far from the truth as my partner is partially deaf and wears hearing aids and this is the reason it partially effects his speech at times.

We was both in shock and discusted by her comment and when he asked to speak to the manager she said she was the manager in which he said well can I speak to the owner please but he was told he wasn't there so he then asked for his contact details she then said her phone had no battery and couldn't get them then put the phone down abruptly on my partner. We was both in total shock can safely say we will not be making any further reservations here due to sheer disregard and unprofessional behaviour.

Such a shame tbh as the food looks amazing and we was very looking forward to our visit. Shame the "supposed manager" has no customer service skills and was extremely...

We were so looking forward to visiting here for my partner’s birthday especially after reading about it on line and she being a seafood fan. This place could be so good with a little more attention to detail but I hate to say it as they are a small local business trying their best, it was pretty average and therefore, disappointing.

The food was OK. We had the sharing seafood platter for a starter, what was most disappointing was there didn’t seem to be much added to bring out the flavours of the shellfish, or any of the other fish.

I had the seafood mixed grill as a main, which was OK (but I expected so much more) 😖.

What lets this place down most of all is the ambience. (There is virtually none). You can get away with so much if you have a great dining experience.

The table staff were friendly but don’t really seem passionate about what they do and lack attentiveness which really is what is needed. (They were finishing conversations with colleagues across the restaurant as they were bringing out our food). Currently it seems more like a cafe rather than a restaurant. Close to £100 for two people and only two drinks each! Sorry guys could (should) do better and I’m...
