Marina Turkish Restaurant and Lounge — Restaurant in Eastbourne

We stumbled on Marina Turkish Restaurant after being told by some locals there were lots of lunch choices in the waterfront area. The restaurant has both outside as well as inside comfortable seating with nice Turkish music playing for added atmosphere. The lunch is offered as a two course lunch with lots of options for each course; I selected the halloumi and my partner went with hummus. The halloumi was nicely prepared and a good sized portion was provided. The hummus was also excellent in flavor and preparation. For our main course I selected lamb kofte guvec and my partner selected chicken shish. My dish had a very hearty portion of lamb with lots of fresh vegetables; the portion was more than I could finish. The chicken shish was prepared perfectly with good seasoning and also a substantial quanitity of everything on the plate. Honestly, the amount of food served for a lunch was too much for us and I doubt anyone will leave the table hungry. The staff we interacted with were friendly and welcoming and we stayed much longer than intended having lovely conversation.

Update July 24. Another fantastic meal here, again exceptional service from The Manager, and Saad our waiter. The other staff are very friendly too. This time I had the seabass and it was so tasty, absolutely delicious and cooked to perfection. This place is amazing. Update June 2024. Visited here again, New Manager, very welcoming and attentive, nothing too much trouble, all the staff are friendly and the food is amazing. The Baklava is exceptional, all food is cooked fresh to order, the chef is outstanding. Portions are generous and prices are very reasonable.

First visit October 2023. The two front of house waiters, Blake and Saad are a credit to this lovely restaurant. Took my family who came from Manchester here as it had good reviews. The service was extremely slow as the main food took 1 hour to come out, and this was Monday and only 4 other tables were being taken up.

Eventually, after the food arrived, they had gotten my order wrong - I ordered Lamb Ribs (which I always order, as its my favourite dish from turkish restaurants) but the Waiter came out the kitchen with Lamb Chops. After challenging the Waiter stating this was incorrect, instead of apologising and offering to remake it, he proceeded to tell me that the food was already made and couldnt do anything about it!! This carried on for the next few minutes until I was basically forced to eat the wrong order whilst the waiter couldn’t care less.
