Came here for a Sunday lunch for my first time. I did call and book and I'm glad I did. It must be very popular here as it was really busy. We did get sat at the wrong table at first and someone came back from getting their carvery and we had been day there by staff. Mistake by staff unfortunately. The three of us wanted a carvery, you have to go to the bar to order and then you are given a ticket to give in when collecting food. Stood in queue which was quite long, nice choice of food and the chef was very polite and chatty which was nice. I really enjoyed my carvery and the meats were yummy. I did see a big selection of cakes in the cabinet which looked so nice. We didn't have pudding as we were so full but they do offer a "cake away" which is a good idea. The prices were reasonable. Only one thing I thought was a bit of an issue is how close all the tables were in the restaurant as you had to keep moving chair in when someone passed. Could be an issue if carrying plates of food past someone. Good first visit overall though.

Very disappointing. Only 1 till was able to process food orders out of 6 available meaning that most people went to a till to place a meal order after queing up, only to discover that they need to walk over to the separate food till. There were no signs making this clear, despite numerous complaints about the inconvenience. As a result the queue here was unnecessarily long. They didn't have various gins available and weren't doing hot chocolate. The tea arrived later on at the table after we were halfway through the meal. Most of the dessert options were out of stock as well and I overheard that quite a few of the menu meal choices were sold out as well. No sundae spoon for the ice cream sundaes meaning it was difficult to get to the bottom of the glass. The carvery meat was perfect and the gravy and sauces were brilliant, yet the roasties were dry as sticks, they used powder form mash potatoes and the sprouts were very overcooked unfortunately. The interior and decor was nice, although it looks like Stevie Wonder and Ray Charles have painted the gents toilets based on the amount of paint that has been smeared all over the woodwork and panelling in there. Could have been so much better but it needs a bit of a shake up and more leadership.

Always fantastic food, lovely decor and atmosphere and a really good price too. The carvery lovely with a great range to choose from, much more than a Toby in my opinion! A good range of menu food and the desserts are to die for and absolutely huge!! You'll never be able to finish it, but they do take out boxes too! You can even just pop in and get your cakes boxed up to go. My advice, have a lovely dinner, then ask for your dessert to be boxed up and take it home and eat it when you have some room in your stomach :) it's only where you'll end up eating at least half of it anyway if you do attempt to eat a big slab of cake straight after your food.

Went for a carvery on 9th January after a recommendation by a friend. Pleased with the food quality & choice. The chef was friendly. Will visit again!
