A group of 8 of us ladies went for the mini afternoon tea at Dolly's, It was so reasonably priced at £8, there were also lots of other yummy food bits on offer and an array of delicious cakes to choose from....as we had all ordered the mini afternoon tea, It was decided amongst us that we should all add chips (at a very reasonable 95p to our dinner). However once the "mini afternoon tea" started to be brought from the kitchen to our table, It soon became apparent that some of us were going to struggle. The portions are quite generous and everything Is so fresh. I ended up having them box up my scone, clotted cream and Jam to take home and enjoyed It with a cuppa later on. A hot beverage comes with the mini afternoon tea, they were tea, coffee, cappuccino or lattes (there was also a fridge containing a good variety of soft drinks, Juices and water) We saw a beautiful milkshake that they had made up being delivered to someone In an old fashioned school milk bottle with a red/white straw placed neatly Inside (I happen to love milkshakes but I couldn't possibly have fit one In, so that's what I am treating myself to on our next visit...the lovely lady who was looking after us had absolutely no qualms about bringing glasses of Ice cold water to the table and we were not charged for any of those) Dolly's Is such a gorgeous quirky little place set Inside a beautiful building and whilst we were waiting to be seated for our meal we walked around the beautiful clothing shop they have there and also the furniture store and on display are so many gorgeous little knick knacks for around the home. It Is all quite reasonably priced so do bring a little extra money to get yourself or a loved one a beautiful treat from the beautiful boutique shops.....If you want a wonderful day out In a beautiful place with a friendly ambience, come here for lunch (as they have a wonderful menu) or treat yourself to an exquisite afternoon tea and finish off with a bit of retail therapy....perfect afternoon out with the girls or treat your husband or wife, you won't be...
Read moreWARNING - BEWARE OF BELLIGERENT OWNER!!! Extremely rude and arrogant owner. I rang to cancel 2 1/2 hours before our booking because we couldn't make it (we've got 3 young children, s* happens, that's just life, etc.). She got extremely annoyed and hung up (for all she knew, I might have wanted to rebook on another day). I rang back to complain about her rudeness, she said 'I lost her a table on a busy day' and hung up again! Unfortunately for her, it's lost her our custom. ONLY BOOK IF YOU CAN GUARANTEE YOU WON'T DROP DEAD OR FALL ILL! #EDIT IN RESPONSE TO REPLY FROM DOLLY'S# I wish I was able to downgrade my review further to zero stars after reading your reply.
You twist the truth in an attempt to mitigate the situation. Just to clarify a few things: I rang at 12.26pm, over two and a half hours before my booking time of 3pm, not 'minutes before' like you falsely claim. I'd be more than happy to post a screenshot of my call log, but perhaps I should spare you the embarrassment. In the morning you said the available slot would get snapped up. Surely the same assertion would have still applied when I cancelled, as it was still well in advance of the time of the booking. The point is that your reaction to my cancellation request was unwarranted and you can't really justify it. I wouldn't have phoned if I didn't really want to come (my wife was looking forward to it). I didn't resort to (or should ever need to) 'insisting' that I would turn up as a way to persuade you to grant me a booking. However, this is besides the point as I reserved the right to cancel nonetheless.
I'm happy for your customers' good experience and I don't really hold anything against you. However, I am entitled to share my experience and honest opinion. You've had opportunities but have failed to acknowledge and apologise for your rudeness. I wonder if the person who cancelled before us received the...
Read moreI called In dollys tea room for lunch the presentation of the cafe is nice, i ordered beef and horseradish sauce sanswich with a side of soup. The food arrived within less than 5 minutes. The beef was out of a packet with no horseradish and the bread was stale like it had been prepared early in the morning. The salad was dry and the coleslaw tasted funny. I called a girl over to advise and she got really mad and went straight into the kitchen and shouted very loudly that I was complaining about the food, there was no apology at this point, she just said we would not need to pay. We then ordered a hot chocolate which at this point we could still hear the staff slagging us off. I decided that was enough and just to pay for my milkshake again that was warm. Another lady from the shop then came in and asked us what had gone on like we had done something wrong, I told her I felt the bread was stale to which she replied we have all felt it and it's not. We said that the other diners bread was stale also. She also seemed to get mad with yet again no apology. She did offer to make another but to be quite frank why would I want to sit there any longer when the staff where rude, calling us and slamming kitchen utensils around. There where one other couple dining so that says a lot about the place. The owner of the building heard what was going on and did not seem to care. A simple apology would of of been nice. We are truly appalled at the way we was treated and there are many other places in blackburn better and with nicer staff, it's honestly rubbish food. I will never return and I would recommend you don't waste your...
