At around 2pm on Wednesday, August 27th, 2025 a waiter dropped a bottle of hot chilli sauce which sprayed into my eyes causing excruciating pain and eye watering for nearly 3 days. I flew back to Australia the following day so you can imagine how uncomfortable 20 hours on a plane is when your eyes continuously sting and water. It also ruined an expensive shirt and a brand new watch strap. The waiter explained the issue was with tape they were using on the trays to hold down the condiments and that he had told management weeks ago that there will be an accident. Management couldn’t have been more obnoxious. Male Duty Manager first of all refused to accept watch strap was stained, but after conceding, explained that he had the same strap but it made his wrist sweat so bought a steel one and that I should do the same. Completely irrelevant to the issue. He also said “ At least you had a free meal” after I was earlier informed that a free drink they initially offered was upgraded to free food. When I said, “Is that supposed to be a joke?”, he replied, “Well I thought it was funny”. If that’s not insulting enough the female duty manager on this day said that we could get a free drink, (this is prior to changing it to not having to pay for the food, which I never got to finish because of the half an hour or more it took to bathe my eyes), when I mentioned the bigger concern was my ruined shirt her words were exactly this, “Well I’m not paying for a new shirt, why should I?”. She said, I’ll only pay for it to be dry cleaned. Well given that I had already mentioned I am flying out the following day, was I supposed to remove my shirt and spend the rest of the day half naked? Completely idiotic and a disgusting display of lack of care and due diligence. The whole reason I was there was to catch up with a friend I hadn’t seen for 30 years. That day was cut short because of the discomfort in my eyes. The staff present at the time couldn’t have been more apologetic, and stated the duty manager would talk to me upon arrival. To call them managers is an insult to all managers everywhere. Their professionalism when dealing with a serious incident is a joke and their duty to ensure customer satisfaction is non-existent. Trying to make fun of the situation is unhelpful and frankly insulting. With behaviour like this, as managers you are a liability and a walking lawsuit. Food was fine, service was the worst I’ve had the misfortune of experiencing. An...
Read moreMyself and my partner took our children to the squirrel last night for a family tea at first everything seemed to be going well however once we ordered our food it quickly went wrong.
We ordered our food and pointed out that some of our children didn't like cheese or onions on they're meals and we patiently waited over an hour for our food to arrive.
We understood that they would be cooking some of our meals fresh so waited some more assuming that was the reason for the delay.
We also didn't want to seem impatient customers.
After around 1 hour 30 mins no food had arrived however a table behind us which arrived after us had been served in one go very quickly.
We began to get annoyed about this and asked the staff where our food was which we was told a few minutes away.
When the food eventually arrived 2 meals were sent back due to dietary requirements not being met and other meals turned up luke warm or not at all.
We questioned this and staff at the bar seemed not to know why and seemed disinterested towards us so we asked to speak with management about it.
The manager ( Jess ) took my complaint very seriously and refunded us the money for our meals and offered us free puddings per person.
She also asked the chef why some meals weren't sent out which was due to stock levels but hadn't been told to us or management at the time of the order.
I thought this was very kind of Jess to do for us as she totally understood our complaint and put it down to staff error that she told us it shouldn't of happened and was very apologetic.
We was then approached by the kitchen manager Hannah who was also very apologetic and offered us a dining experience in the future to make our experience better for free.
Thank you to Jess and Hannah for your kindness and apologetic manner, we hope to update this review in the future with a...
Read moreI hate giving places negative reviews but I can honestly say that I experienced the worst customer service in this place than I have anywere else ever. We live in Preston but are members of a gym in Poulton so when work permits and we are able to visit on a Sunday afternoon we like to do the gym and then have a pub tea on the way home. On this occasion I ordered the carvery and my friend a burger from the menu. I went and got my carvery (which was all fine) but when I returned to my table I found along with many other customers that we had no cultery. When we asked the server she said it was all in the dishwasher? Peoples food sat on tables going cold and no clean cutterly anywere in the building. Some 10 minutes past, same young server asked 3 more times before she was seen sat at the pizza counter with 3 other staff members playing on her phone and eating a plate of chips and gravy all while half a dozen tables had their food going cold and nothing to eat it with. I ended up finding a teaspoon and had to enjure my carvery with that. When I complained to another staff member he walked off whilst I was still talking. 1hr later my friends burger had still not arrived, asked a server who said he would go and check on it but he never came back. 1hr, 30mins later still no burger. Complained at pizza counter, chef appolgised and said she would get it to us in a few minutes then was seen leaving the building with her coat on. 2hrs later we left. Refund for burger was given by a very appolgetic and embarrased lady working behind the bar. Said waitress who had left customers with no cultery was still sat eating, drinking and playing on her phone. Dirty uncleared tables everywhere, people walking out by the minute. Wow, never have I ever experienced service like this it really...
