You don't need a 14 hour flight to Mexico.
Because you can take a ten min drive outside of bournemouth to here for an authentic taste of Mexico.
We found this little 'gem' by chance. Yes that word that is so often used by many, but not by us very often. It's run by just two guys.
To keep things authentic, they import ingredients including beers and soft drinks from Mexico. They source other produce locally and everything is homemade onsite.
We went for their brunch/lunch, and chose a few dishes that we have had before elsewhere to compare.
Tacos de Pescado Empanizado (Mexican spiced fried Haddock) Queso Tacos de Birria de Res (6hr slow-cooked beef, with Birria dipping broth) Costillas de Elote - Roasted corn ribs. Sándwich de Panceta de Cerdo y Huevo Frito (Toasted sandwich with 24h sous-vide pork belly)
Everything was cooked to perfection and there wasn't one dish that stood out,as they were all equally tasty and delicious. But if you twisted our arm,it would have to be the Birria de Res. Which is a must order. All washed down with a couple of Medelo's and a nice, cheeky Jalapeno & grapefruit soda. Service was relaxed and friendly. Prices are very reasonable for this quality of food and drink. It's great to support your independents and much more appreciated by them. We will definately be visting again next time we are...
Read moreI have been waiting for a Mexican restaurant to open up in Bournemouth for years, so I was quick to book a table once I found out about Taco Taco and it definitely did not disappoint. The food was absolutely amazing, you could tell each dish was cooked with passion and that it was as close as you could get to authentic Mexican food. The range of drinks was very interesting, I tried the watermelon and mint Agus Frescas as well as the berries one; both drinks were very obviously freshly made which really added to the experience. For the food, I ordered the Birria tacos and the fries coated in Mexican style seasoning, which were both absolutely amazing- I loved the juiciness of the tacos and the sauces that really complimented the well seasoned fries. However, my favourite meal of the day was definitely the dessert as the churros were the best i've ever had, they were crispy on the outside but so insanely fluffy on the inside and the Dulce de leche sauce became my new favourite dip for churros! As well as the food, the service was also amazing! the food came out relatively quickly considering there is only one person cooking, and the server really worked hard in making sure everyone was happy whilst waiting. I will definitely be visiting again to be able to explore the rest...
Read moreAdmittedly was a few weeks since we visited, but a good experience doesn't quickly leave you!
The place is a proper hidden gem, and we had absolutely no idea it was even there! When we booked the table, we had no idea what we were getting ourselves into, but oh my, I'm glad we did!
If you are into authentic mexican food, this is immediately the place for you. The smells alone would send you wild! I had the birria tacos, and my partner the beef tacos. We shared nachos to start. We also shared a gorgeous bottle of white and I went for one of their kicking mule special cocktails.
Fair to say I was mesmerized. Everything was perfect, coupled to a really relaxed dining experience. Don't turn up in your tux like we did, it's just a nice relaxing dinner vibe.
Final word, massive shout out to the two lads with the vision. The story behind this place is short of incredible. I genuinely can't wait to come back, surprised it's...
