The Harbour Diner — Restaurant in England

Dined in for dinner at 9pm . Only 1 other family in restaurant. We met by 'owner ' sat on stairs who said girls wouldn't be long to take our order. Waited 15 mins to be recognised and had to order at the till (meal paid for 3 of us 2 adults and one child plus drinks at this point). Drinks took about 10 minutes to arrive. Food arrived at 20 minutes but only 2 meals. After waiting 10 minutes to locate a waitress and explain meal was left off ....we overheard one waitress say to the other 'ask to see their till receipt '. I found this to be an insult!. I showed such receipt and thet admitted mistake but 12 year old had to wait a further 15 mins for meal.....therefore we all couldn't enjoy our meals together as ours were then cold and getting late. Waitress did offer a round of free drinks on the house but after waiting a further 20 mins (other family seemed to take precsidence) they weren't forth coming so at 10pm we left feeling downbeat as had a poor experience. Myself and my family have just returned from a 10 day break in Brixham and whilst away we popped in here for dinner one evening and have to say it was very pleasant.

The menu is varied and caters a little something for everyone. In the end we dined here 4 or 5 times during our stay and on every occasion we enjoyed lovely food and fantastic service.

The staff were very attentive and polite and always made us feel very welcome indeed. The mains were all lovely and all presented exactly as described on the menu. The deserts were lovely and the freakshakes are amazing.

We ate outside on the harbour front on one occasion and as other reviews have mentioned we were asked to pay up front for all drinks and meals etc which is perfectly understandable considering the seating is across the road from the actual restaurant building. Overall I'd say this venue offers a great balance of value vs quality. Would dine here...

We used their website to order delivery and went for the moving mountains burger, veggie hotdog and chips, the meat-free share box and two of the pint desserts. We ordered well in advance of our chosen delivery time of 7:30pm. The food arrived 50 minutes late (we called at 7:50pm and were told it was on its way and should arrive in 5 mins…) When the food arrived we had no chips, no coleslaw that was meant to come with both meals and none of the dips to go with the share box; as well as it being luke warm.
