Had a lovely visit to the Gold Medal with family, there was a few of us and they were more than happy to accomodate despite not having booked (last minute decision!) They even pulled some tables together and made space for those in the group who needed a tad more space. Food is pretty much same options as other hungry horse pubs, but there is such a selection on the menu that I think you could go all week and have something different each time! I went for the dipper burger which is basically a chicken burger stack with gravy... it was very nice! Price as with other hungry horse pubs was very reasonable. My only issue was that I attempted to use the app on this occasion but not all the menu selections appeared on the app, I went back to the trusty option of just going to the till but still a bit annoying when I went to effort to download etc! Worth a visit if you want a good value family meal out in my opinion. It's not gourmet, but your also not paying gourmet prices... and more likely my kids will eat the food!!

Well well well, what a disappointment! My partner usually enjoys this place whereas I'm a little more reserved about the types of customers the place attracts. Can be very rowdy at times but the food is generally pretty decent. Upon my visit today we weren't sure if we had to find our own table or if we'd be escorted. The menu is very small with some unusual foods. After finding a seat by the TV it was freezing as we were under the air conditioning unit. Once I chose my meal I proceeded to the till where there were two customers in front of me and it took 15 minutes to reach me , upon trying to order my curry I was told there was no rice, I went to order a coffee and there was no milk. Plus a 30 minute delay due to a leak in the kitchen. I was very hungry and decided to leave without ordering

Ok, where do I start. The place was fairly busy, but found a table easily, it had been used and not been cleaned. We had the roast beef, also got extra roast potatoes, and cauliflower and cheese. The two very thin slices of beef, was tough, and on the menu photo, it shows three slices, not two, also, no jug of gravy, like in the photo, but then it's for illustration only. The roast potatoes on the plate where well done, maybe sat around for a while, but then the extra potatoes where actually fine, and was a large portion, as well as the cauliflower. All the veg, as far as I can tell, are frozen. No one came back to check if everything was ok. Well, it's food, that's it.

Updated 16/08/2024.... what is happening to this pub so see photos of a pint of coke, serviced not even full, a disgrace!!!

SF chicken see picture was horrible, cheap and nasty piece of chicken, clearly from frozen product, one bite, if wasn't a BOGOFF deal, ask for a refund, dry and tasteless SF chicken.

Would be five stars on food and drinks, but let down by inconsiderate smokers... We started off seating at the back area and smoker out of all empty seats came sat next to us so we moved in side for a meal, we spent well over £70 on meals and drinks everything no issues, but with the gorgeous hot weather we all decided to have more drinks outside on the side balcony with the fresh air and sun in our face signs on benches saying no smoking and then annoying a chav family of 4 came over sat next to us and ruined our experience by smoking Vapes all 4, smoking or steaming wafting over onto our table no consideration for other around a family of 2 left too, so I spoke with the manager who did nothing but saying Vaping was accepted only, not cigerattes, so we drank up and left to go elsewhere to finish our night off. Please note Vaping has tabacco on them also which we were smelling, and invasion of our health and atmosphere turning a beauty night into breathing second hand smoke. Thought we were in a train tunnel with the face...

I came with my two young children for a family pub dinner, but the staff at the entrance could be more courteous. I asked if we could go outside to enjoy the sun and was told that outside is adults only. Then asked for a table and the person i asked to disappeared for like 10 minutes and when she came back she told that I had to immediately put my son down as he cannot sit there. He was just sitting at the chair of a gambling machine, there was no need to use a passive aggressive tone, I am sure he did not mean to play at 3 years of age. And there was nobody around to play. We decided initially to sit outside on the other side and asked to bring some menus. I was given only adult menus even if it was pretty clear i needed to order from the kids menu. I understand the table has got some papers with drawings for children together with the menues, but ours did not. The food itself was ok, i had a burger which was good although the fries portion was small and only had 2 onion rings. Also, there are not spoons available to take from the cutlery areas, which would have been useful for my children to eat the peas The food itself as nice, but i probably won't go back alone with the kids because the pub doesn't sound as kids friendly...

We eat here a lot and always enjoy our meals, first time I've reserved tables and ordered afternoon teas plus buffet for a surprise baby shower, weeks in advance it was paid for just short of £200, it was written in the diary I would be there at 2pm to set up with balloons and cake etc etc, I would leave at 2.30 to get my daughter arriving with her for the food at 3pm, no one contacted me so on the day we arrived I was told manager said no, the tables can only be reserved from 2.30pm,so as u can imagine panic set in how was I to set up tables and pick her up at 2.30 people were still eating at the tables, how uncomfortable must they of felt with us chomping at the bit to get the table they were using, totally unnessasary and if I'd known we only had half hr window to decorate and get her there I would of booked elsewhere, the reason I was given.. Its still a pub and money needs to be made... Erm believe I paid for the food that was to go on those tables along with extra drinks my guests bought.. Just make it clear to people that book tables only reserved for half hr.. Very...
