Been a couple times this year and both were not great expierences, but me and my partner gave it the benefit of the doubt as we used to like coming to the restaraunt last year and tried the restaraunt again today on a bank holiday and it was the worst time on this visit. We get seated by a host that we guess was on duty but couldnt tell as he shows us to our seat hands us couple menus then goes sits back down at a corner table by the kitchen area for 5 minutes and then was never seen again. Me and my partner scan our menus for 5 minutes and wait about another 10 minutes before a waitress comes over to ask what we would like for drinks and take our food order. We order appetisers and a main course each and she asks "if we would like it all to come out at once or seperately", we responded with "all at once please", so it all came out seperately, which was all served at luke warm temperature. When she brings the mains out she asks if we "would like anything else" so i ask "is it possible for 2 more cokes" as we were running out, so she takes my partners empty glass obviously but also takes my half full glass of coke away aswell and then comes back with the 2 drinks and wonders off to do what she is doing again. After we are done we are probably sat waiting for our waitress to come over our way for another good 10 minutes to collect the plates and ask her to get the bill please. She gets the bill and places it on the table and disapears. Me and My partner getting fed up of waiting that my partner goes for a smoke and I go to the bar to ask to pay my table bill which the barman says he cannot do for me, so i go back to my table and wait to pay contemplating to just walk out. After i had sat down for a fe minutes the waitress that was meant to be getting my bill quickly so I could pay & go was now at another table holding cake doing the TGI Happy Birthday special song. Which I was fed up by this point, after they had finished my partner walks in and sees im still sat there wondering why everything is taking so long. And finally after another 5 minutes she comes over with the card machine. Not once did anyone come over and ask how the food was and also at the end I guess my face was saying everything as when the card machine came over it was quite a quick transaction and didnt even ask us how everything was.. I guess i wouldnt of minded all the waiting and the luke warmish food if it was actually busy, but for a restaraunt of about 90+ tables and you only had us 2, about 2 families of 4, a couple tables of 2, a table of 8 uni students that finished and walked out when i first asked for the bill and the birthday group of 6. Its a very poor show really. The lack of care and quality has...
Read moreWe took my wife’s parents out to see Micky Flanagan as a celebration of a recent victory over some serious health issues. We booked TGI Fridays for a quick bite to eat before the show and were looking forward to some good food having had a good experience when we last went. Unfortunately the experience we had in TGI Fridays was humiliating and upsetting and what should have been a nice family celebration meal tarnished an otherwise wonderful evening. The drinks order came in three different stages, first being about 10 min after we ordered, the next two drinks came another 15 min later and the final drink another 5 min after that. One of our party cannot currently eat big portions so we ordered some appetisers to arrive the same time as mains which the waitress said was ok. About 40 min after we ordered we were sent the appetisers separate to the mains and when they arrived they were cold. We sent these back and a supervisor came over to apologise for the cold food and the fact it arrived separately, we accepted the mistake and asked for some more drinks which we were told would be done right away. They weren’t. We had to go to the bar and get drinks ourselves. The food then arrived, unfortunately it was just the appetisers again with no main’s however we were assured mains would be straight out. Guess what, they weren’t. By this point we were over an hour into our experience and needed to leave to get to the show in time. We asked for the manger and we’re told he would be with us shortly, another 10 minutes goes by and no sign of the manager despite him being told how angry we were. My father in law went over to the manager as we didn’t want to just leave. He touched his arm to get his attention as he was either not aware of him or more likely being ignored. The manager finally came over to the table and we told him the issues we had. Instead of offering his apologies for our experience, the 30ish year old clearly gym going manager accused my 61 year old father in law with health issues of “man handling” him and we were publicly asked to leave the restaurant. We have never been kicked out of a restaurant in our lives and found the experience both embarrassing and humiliating. I’ve previous experience managing in hospitality and would have been mortified if my staff behaved in this way. Disgusted is not an understatement. I hope the manager reflects on this and changes his attitudes towards his customers, unfortunately given the reviews ratings I’ve seen on here and Facebook I’m not in the minority and it doesn’t appear change is on...
Read moreWent here for a staff Christmas do. Its not a place I would normally choose and today reminded me why.
Initially, when the starter came out, I had hopes that my doubts were unfounded. I had chicken bites in JD sauce. It was very tasty, but then again, breaded chicken lavished in sugary goo, where can you go wrong? It was a decent sized portion though which I was pleased about.
Unfortunately it was quick sledge ride down a snowy hill from there.
The service was poor, with drinks taking up to 15 minutes to arrive and a failure to take drinks orders. When those at my table requested items like condiments the requested items went forgotten. I do not think the individuals working were to blame, they looked short on the ground so I'm guessing it may have been a management issue.
When the drinks did arrive they were uninspiring. I tried two different cocktails and both had the semblance and flavour of a toddler playing potions with their mother's bathroom products, and elicited about as much dismay.
For a main course I had a "Christmas burger." this was essentially a dry chicken burger with a drier stuffing ball and pig in blanket (limper than a man in an ice bath) pegged on top.
For dessert I had a chocolate orange Sunday. I can, without exaggeration, say it was the worst dessert I've tried in my life. It didn't look too bad, swirls or white, brown and orange as you'd expect, though the orange glowed like it came out of Chernobyl infamous reactor. My first bite of what I thought was deflated whipped cream sent me reeling as it turned out to be melted marshmallow (admittedly this surprise was my own fault as on reflection of the menu it does list this as an ingredient, I did not, however, expect it to be the main thing running through the dish). I pushed through to try the other elements. The brownie had the moisture content f a granola bar that had been left out in the desert a week. But it was the radioactive looking sorbet that was that truly dissolved the taste buds; it tasted like a chef had the cunning idea of freezing orange zest scented Cif and left me feeling like my mouth had been a kitchen surface fresh from cleaning.
Unfortunately this experience fell short of my original pretty low expectations. Starter was...
