Frankie & Benny's — Restaurant in Leeds

Today 2nd October 2022. Me and my boyfriend visited frankie and benny's in Leeds white rose shopping centre. My boyfriend ordered whole rack of pork ribs which came with fries and corn on the cob. I have ordered a sirloin steak medium with 2 onion rings fries sauted mushrooms with garlic butter but they were out of the butter. We also ordered a side of corn on the cob this was our mains. We did also order a chicken caesar salad as a starter to share. As shown in the pictures some of the menu items were crossed off as they were not available. Let me start with the service, the service was great from the beginning to the end. We was greeted with a smile by a helpfull young lady. Our waiter a kind gentleman was really patient with us as we could hardly decide what to eat. As for the food I do have to say it was a little bland meaning the chicken in the salad, the fries, and the steak and the mushrooms. Which is not too much of a let down as they did have salt and pepper shakers on the table letting you season to your own likings and maybe that's why. Unfortunately, today the chicken was a little dry in the salad and wasn't too juicy but the dressing did help a little. The sauted mushrooms I feel like were not sauted at all or at least not enough. It tasted pretty watery and the small bowl had a build up of water in the bottom. The steak could have been a little more pinker. Discriminatory and Poor Service at Frankie & Benny’s Whitrose, Leeds

I am writing to formally complain about the unprofessional and discriminatory treatment my family and I experienced at your Whitrose branch in Leeds on 18/11/2024, during a birthday celebration for my husband and son.

I had informed the waiter about our plans to celebrate and requested that the cakes we brought be lit with candles and served with music. The waiter instructed us to place the cakes on a side table, which was unusual based on my prior experiences at your other branches. Later, the waiter claimed the restaurant had no lighter to light the candles. However, shortly after, another table (a British party) received their cake with candles lit and music.

I had to leave my guests to find a lighter in the shopping center. Upon returning, I learned that the shop manager had rudely told my guests that we were not allowed to celebrate there and insisted we leave. When I asked for the cakes to be served with music, the manager refused in an aggressive and disrespectful tone, ruining the celebration for my 5-year-old son and our family.

This incident was deeply upsetting and seemed discriminatory, as other customers received full birthday service while we were denied.

I request a formal investigation into this matter and an explanation for the unequal treatment. I also expect a written apology and assurance that appropriate action will be taken to address this unacceptable behavior.

Had good and bad experiences here but the majority is bad as of recent. It’s definitely not worth it anymore because of service and quality of food has gone down.

Today me, my partner and my 2 year old were sat inside by an uninterested server. We get its busy but after waiting 10 minutes to be sat, we then got ignored and no one bothered to even take our drink order. Yet the people they sat after us, they did all of their drink orders and food orders whilst we sat twiddling our thumbs. How does that work? I then said excuse me to the male server walking past, there wasn’t enough noise in the restaurant for him not to hear me, he blatantly ignored me and walked past our table. We got up and left. Won’t be waiting ages and paying for rubbish service. Frankie and Benny’s needs to work harder. There’s no excuse for staff to not even give a polite hello or “I’ll be with you in a minute”. Basic manners are now off the table apparently.

Went to Prezzo instead, which was more affordable, more tasty and had great service as well as looked modern inside the restaurant. Prezzo was also extremely busy and only had one woman working as a server and they had two chefs. The server managed to deliver a great service even still. The chef’s got food out really fast.
