Ive bought fish and chips from Fisherman's Wife for years (as far back as to when it was called Gravely's) and they have always been delicious. However, since the relocation to inside the market, standards have dropped somewhat. The food I bought today was definitely substandard. The chips were dry and obviously re-cooked, perhaps from the day before. To pay full price for something that is essentially warmed up is unforgivable. The fish was also dry and disappointing. I'll think twice about going there again as there are MUCH better fish and chips in Leeds city centre.

Having moved to Leeds nearly a year ago it took a while to find a good chippy. I tried The Fishermans Wife for the first time a few weeks ago. I came for the food and return frequently for the lovely service. Very clean and a nice calm atmosphere. My only complaint would be not enough seating at busy times, but I couldn't knock off a star for that. Why wouldnt it be busy? Inexpensive for the quality of the food. Give the fishcake a try. Delicious. Sorry I couldn't leave a photo. Scoffed it too fast! Youll have to go and see for yourself.

On this cloudy day, only a plate of real fish and chips could lift my mood. The batter was crispy, the fish tender, and the chips golden. Sometimes, it’s the simple things that makes you feel warm 🙌 I added a little chili powder for a warm kick, and it was the perfect touch to cut through the cold.🔥 If the weather’s got you down, this meal has a way of turning things around. Simple, honest food with a bit of soul. @thefishermanswife_leeds By fishenjoylife

Had fish and chips for the first time from these people in Leeds market recently.

Very stingy portion for the price paid. Chips were cooked that much practically all of the moisture had been cooked out of them and they were just cardboard. No flavour either.

Fish and batter tasted OK but portion was tiny which seemed to have more batter than fish. What I'd class a child's or pensioners portion.

I think they were calling this 'traditional'. If that's what they think is traditional fish and chips then they've clearly got the wrong idea.

I love my fish and chips and this is one of the worst I've ever had living in Yorkshire for 25 years....

Gone downhill big time ! The last few times I've had the fish not enjoyable at all , dry and on borderline tasteless each visit I had I hoped the fish would be better then the last time but no big disappointment. Chips getting tasteless. It used to be the best fish and chips in town and you could say Leeds. When it was outside it was better then this , the last year it was outside on street the standards slipped a bit and then gone worser since the move inside , fish doesn't seem to be fresh . Im going to stop coming here now go e it a year or two then try it again to see if the quality...
