Nice looking brunch spot, which fails to deliver on food and service.
We went recently for a brunch and the menu delights with its variety of options, however it disappoints with delivery.
We had Eggs Benedict and Sweetcorn Fritters. Speaking of the latter first, my partner felt like they had been made 2 days prior; stodgy, bland and with a weird aftertaste. It was meant to come with a chilli jam, but it was more like a plum pickle - lumpy, hard and bitter.
Of the Eggs Benedict, the hollandaise sauce was missing, instead there was something yellow, with no obvious taste, that had the thick texture of cream cheese. Eggs were served nicely though, and suitably runny; toast untoasted as it seems is a norm.
On service: we waited for 15 minutes to order at a time there were maybe 4-5 tables âliveâ as three staff sort to resolve an incorrect bill, and the front of house guy was seating people. Food came promptly.
We paid the bill, we were happy to take the incident and never return, but weâre asked at the point of payment âhow was the food?â - my partner said it was âOKâ and the server, unconvinced, asked her to elaborate. We explained the above and were asked, âis there anything I can do?â - this might be the most aggravating part of it. You know what to do if someone is unhappy with their experience: you discount. You do not offer them more food or drink given their faith has been lost in your cooking and preparation skills.
Itâs a great little spot, visually appealing and this review will likely not turn heads. However, given the prices charged and the quality delivered, you have Bills, Megans, and The Ivy in less than half a kilometre and Iâd advise you to go...
Read moreVisited with my dad here today and had the most disappointing experience that was true my quite upsetting. Firstly, it took 30 minutes for someone to come over and take our order. I arrived first and was really thirsty but was unable to find anyone to come over and take a drinks order. Everyone else was given water on arrival but not us! I noticed that our drinks were sitting on the bar and my dad had to go up and ask them to be brought over. We then ordered food and waited for 45 minutes while starving. Then I overheard the waiter Turning a group away saying there has been a gas leak and the kitchen was closed. My dad then went up to the server and he said that sorry we werenât able to have our food?? Iâm sorry what??? So the restaurant staff were just going to make us sit there without telling us? Also everyone should have been evacuated right away a gas leak is so dangerous. We arrived at 12:37 and left at 1:37 hungry and scared that our lives had been put at risk. Why werenât the customers who had ordered food told? Safe to say wonât be returning. Save your money and time. My dad was visiting from up north and unfortunately this experience meant he wasnât able to eat lunch before he had to get the train home. I cried on the bus back because choosing this place to eat meant my day with my dad was ruined :(( decor and staff were nice tho and didnât charge for our drinks so thanks for that. but need more training especially on how to deal with situations like this. Iâve worked in hospitality for 3 years and this place is an example of how places...
Read moreI booked in here for my friendâs birthday. They accept the cake if you want to take with you and celebrate there. We were 4 in total and a little 2 year old kid.
Upon entrance, the lady in front was very rude and not so friendly. She was not helpful at all and seemed she was forced into taking customers. We ordered the food and it took more than 45 minutes to come. It takes ages for them to make coffee and even when they brought the coffee, one of our order was missing. Coffees were very small, even the latte. It was very cold and the pastry we ordered came even after the food so we couldnât have them with our coffees. The pancake was not very fluffy and had egg smell. Folded egg was good and creamy but the texture was not quite good. Side mushroom was creamy and I can say this was the only one good thing in the food. Antipodea Melt, the tomato was raw and not roasted and I donât recommend that at all. Banana bread was good, but would have been better if they could brought jam.
They donât do butter and jam for the breakfast, and they donât give your egg as fried egg if you request. You have to either have is as poached, or their folded egg or boiled egg, which is very strange for all day breakfast.
Overall the customer service here is very bad, they are very slow and their behaviour is not very good. I was not happy with them.the money you pay is not worth the food and service you receive and I donât...
