Very dissapointed with service and unprofessional staff (not all, but some). To start with i have booked a package that was supposed to include a welcome drink per person. This had never happened and on the night i have forgotten to follow up on this. Then we had 2 drinks spilled on 2 different people. And this happened with same waiter. Not once but twice. You would say things happen, yes they do but an appology would of changed things. Staff did not appologise and when i said that second drink was spilled on a person because he was clearly too close, i was accused of being aggresive. So my guest had blouse wet, coat wet and none of the staff asked if we are ok and if need any help by drying coat. And they have expected me to laugh at this perhaps and not being challanging. More over 30min later i had to chase for the 2 missing drinks (the ones that were spilled). Package included 2 bottles of spirits and i asked for a bottle of whiskey and a bottle of gin. We got whiskey and VODKA. I did not ask to change cos i was too tired to chase staff. Our table was of 18-20 ppl i ordered food to share. Food arrived and no plates offered to people. Had to ask for this. Then ordered more food. So more plates on the table. No one passed by to ask if all ok, if we needed anything nor to collect dirty glasses and paper plates. Had to chase staff for all of this. Then i asked what was the balance used and i was told “give me 5min”. 20min down the line no info. Chased again and was asked to give another 5min. Then 20min later i asked again and finally got an answer. I was told balance was £290 and i said it seems to high for what we have ordered. Then i was told the balance is £215!!! How is £75 difference possible?! Overall in 3hrs i have spent £750 to receive terrible service and no attention from staff! I am working in hospitality for more than 15 years, and i know some customers can be over challanging and complaints are not always reflect the true, but staff at Bar Elba needs customers care training, complaint handling training and learn some menners. You can turn your upset customers to your regular guests! However, Bar Elba has lost that opportunity and i will not recommend it to any of my colleagues, clients or friends and will not return there myself… Food was good quality and tasty. Lack of presentation maybe, but overall we have enjoyed it and chicken wings were exceptionally good. Well done to your chef!
