Lovely place and friendly staff. Food is ok too. I find the coffee far too strong, but that's just my personal preference. Glad to see a fab new place in Streatham.

UPDATE:

Went for breakfast and tried for the first time the ‘Corn Fritters’. Disappointed with the food (very friendly and helpful staff though 😊)

The fritters seem to be premade as they were served cold/warmish, were try and bland.

I ordered the Haloumi with the corn fritters- assuming that the Haloumi would be grilled (I should have asked) – but the Haloumi was also deep friend (not sure what it was coated in).

But it wasn’t the lukewarm deep fried food on the plate that disappointed me the most – it was the fact that it was served on a bed of – ketchup, mayo and smashed avocados! Love avocados, but why put smashed avocados on top of a bed of...

Gone downhill.

I'm writing this review in the hope that Brickwood can get back to where it once was.

Used to love it when it first opened but the service has progressively worsened recently. Just now it reached its worst point - ordered a coffee with the intent to order food, and half an hour later, no coffee and nobody had come to take my food order. It was like I was invisible.

It's genuinely disappointing since I've been a regular customer since they opened last year on account of their top quality coffee and delicious food, but the quality there has dipped too. The prices aren't cheap, but I was happy paying the premium while the quality was top notch but I can't justify returning any more until they've upped their game back to...

Have been a frequent visitor of Brickwood Streatham for the last 4 years and sadly the quality of the food has really gone downhill alongside large price increases.

The past three times we have eaten here we have had issues from cold sausages, limp and fatty bacon, overcooked eggs and a toasty that was soggy and lacked flavour.

Two brunches, a coffee and a cold drink cost over £60 at our most recent visit which feels incredibly excessive and far more than what we used to pay.

What I cannot fault is the service, which is always impeccable, so it’s such a shame that the food really lets it down.

Would love to add this back to my regular coffee shop list but sadly it’s hard to keep giving Brickwood a chance after three poor...

A high 3/low 4. I've worked out of the Streatham and Balham Brickwood cafes on successive days this week and have found it to be pretty consistent. The menu is solid. The smashed avo is plentiful and the poached eggs always perfectly cooked. The sourdough not so sour but passable. The pastries are OK, a bit dry but again, I've had worse. The Americano tastes a bit bitter for my liking and the flat shire needs a triple shot to avoid over milkiness. The staff are really friendly and helpful. The prices are a bit on the expensive side to be honest, but I'd pay them for the lack of alternatives in Streatham. Feels on par with Batch, maybe a bit better due to better menu options.

I’ve been visiting Brickwood for years since moving to Streatham, and have typically been a huge fan of their coffee, brunch and general service. Today I stopped by and took in the new decor. There seems to be a new team working, and the usually busyness remained. I ordered an iced latte with oat milk and a dash of simple syrup, and was charged £5.40! Even for London, this is crazy pricing. You’d get better value at a large chain, and unfortunately I won’t be back again. I’ll opt for Big Bad Wolf just up the road, who have always been consistent. In a cost of living crisis, when can we take a step back and call people out for pushing a little too much?
