Went in to buy some Italian goods for my Italian girlfriend. Upon entering, the place looked closed. One man shouted out “alright” and quickly vanished before I could respond. I saw another lady near the door who was staring at me, so I gave her a “Hello” and “Ciao”, to neither she did respond. Now, feeling awkward and unwelcome, I made my way to the shop at the back to buy some things and leave. I could see another customer and sales assistant conversing, I waited in line for her to call me over. As I approached, the sales assistant looked me up and down, walked away and called over another colleague to do the transaction. The guy who served me looked much less dead than the previous lady but he was awkward too. Thoroughly a strange experience at Rosso and I probably won’t return. After discussing this with my girlfriend she suggested I may have experienced a bit of racism, which is typical of northern Italians allegedly. I don’t really care about that and I can’t say much as an English man. However I do think it’s a bit silly to open an “Enoteca” in London and then look surprised when an English...
Read moreWe visited for lunch on a Thursday. It was a sunny day and we sat on one of their tables outside, which was quite pleasant. We were one of the first to arrive at 12:30pm, but it got a little bit busier later on. Myself and my wife ordered the beef ragout tagliatelle and the lobster tagliolini (which was on special), plus some focaccia bread to start. Both pastas were very good. Cooked perfectly, and the proteins were well seasoned. Portion sizes were definitely on the small side, as other reviewers have mentioned, but one pasta dish, plus some bread and a gelato to finish was enough to fill us up. The gelato too was very nice, as was the rose by the glass that I tried.
Service was so-so. Initially things were ok, but as the place got busier the service became quite slow. And this when they were only at half capacity. The bill for the two of us came to just over £100, of which £35 was spent on drinks. Slightly on the high side, but within reason. Overall, we enjoyed our lunch. The food was solid. I would consider returning but would aim for timings when they were less busy, given the...
Read moreThe staff here is very unprofessional.
I was told by the manager on the flor that I should be ashamed if I am vegetarian because I steal food from cows 🙄
Outside there was a sign offering free Prosecco due to an event that night so we can in(planning to order more) asking for this Prosecco and we were looked at like if we were asking for charity.
We than decided to order another round of Prosecco but the so-called manager served us the same complementary drink that we were served at the beginning ( which was not Prosecco but a rose brut )
And when we realised that that wasn’t Prosecco we asked for explanation and we were told from the MANAGER “well that the same” he was so trying to say that rosè brut was same as white Prosecco.
Never mind, at the end he was fighting with the waitress on the flor(which told us that she wasn’t happy to work there) and we had to wait for about 30 min to get our bill.
Other than that the food was very good but I have to say orribile atmosphere.
It’s a shame for such a nice...
