GBK has changed over the years. It used to be great, free monkey nuts, a great loyalty scheme, with many free offers, fab milkshakes & unique fries but since the pandemic they've closed stores & made changes. One of those changes, more recently, is that they don't do the skinny fries anymore. The really thin shoe string ones. This is a permanent change according ot our waitress. This left our party very disappointed , again, on our recent visit. They now serve standard French fries plus their chunky fries (which admittedly are still good). The French fries just aren't as good as the skinny fries, sadly. Also, they've changed the milkshakes. I always have the Oreo milkshake , which used to be thick, ice cream based & full of oreo bits. The one I have on my most recent visit was thin, not thick, not as cold (like it wasn't made with ice cream) , not as much oreo & very disappointing. Runny & sad. Also, bring back the monkey nuts!! Oh & we spent about 30 minutes trying to order through the app for it to consistently fail. We gave up & ordered at the counter but wasted so much time. We watched as food turned up for people that arrived after us. The burgers are still good but the extra bits that used to make GBK stand out are now, sadly gone. Read moreI spent the day (16/06/2022) in Chelsea and am so glad i went to GBK. I was greeted by Peter, the restaurant was quite given the time of my arrival (after the lunch time rush) so Peter gave me the choice of where to sit which was a nice touch.
To be honest from then on, the service was impeccable. my food was amazing, cooked to perfection, the tap water on arrival was a great touch considering it was roasting outside. I ordered the taxidriver burger, with fries and a refreshing non alcoholic drink, strawberry and elderflower i think.
Peter and the other staff asked me if i needed anything else, how my food was. When i asked for the bill, Peter openly had a conversation with my asking my opinion on what they could do in order to improve their service for the customers, to make them feel that little bit more special given the increase in cost in living, economic hardship. I was a little blown by this because you could instantly see this was a team that cared about everyone who walks through the door and everyone to have that special experience. Read moreOrdered this from GBK South Kensington through Deliveroo - even though spending £12 for a burger and getting a refund as only half of it arrived is not acceptable, the real reason for a 1* review is due to a member of staff who identified themselves as "Esme" (Acting Manager) was very aggresive when asked who I could speak to about this as I'm local to the restaurant, she then explained that she was not Esme (which I found very strange) as she wasnt comfortable giving out any information about any members of staff (which is ok) - what the alarming thing is she then explained that my food was tampered with and I need to learn some manners so I can get the right food delivered, she then decided to hang up.
