Booked an 11am table for 2 for Sunday roast. No indication on website menu or during booking that kitchen will only start receiving ala carte orders at 11.30am and Sunday roast orders at 12pm. Such a waste of time waiting.

Roast came lukewarm and drenched in gravy which made everything on the plate claggy and taste like gravy. It wasn't even good gravy. Cauliflower cheese barely had any cheese on it. When we gave our feedback to the server regarding the gravy, he responded that it was 'always served this way', which was disappointing and indicated that the restaurant couldn't care less about their customer's preferences.

We wanted to pay with cash, server told us that if he took our cash, we won't receive any change'. Unacceptable behavior.

Used to like this place. Will never...

We had bottomless brunch, for a birthday. I had the pancakes which tasted nice, the fruit was fresh with a burst of flavour from every bite. The pancakes were slightly dry, I was expecting, light and fluffy, there were hardly any syrup on them too. The chips were standard chips.

The drink for the bottomless brunch, all were too bitter for us so much so we had to order separate mixers to sweeten the drinks up. Very disappointed in this.

Our waiter was a friendly man, who was very attentive.

It is a beautiful restaurant, nicely decorated every corner had something pretty to look at. The roof was glass so we were able to see the rain on the window which was lovely.

We loved the games they had dotted around the restaurant, our fave was a mortal combat...

Coming all the way to east London to MaMa for a brunch it's dedication. While reading past comments it's safe to say, I was lucky with the food and the service which was brilliant, however, I do agree on the price.

MaMa was a pleasant experience and the opportunity to see the hotel. It's hip, trendy and provide a good service, but overal it's cosy and different. While my head was telling to eat something light, my stomach was hungry and I ended up ordering Wellington beef.

The group decided to order a bit of everything and share, and the two dishes that stood out was the Gochujang chicken bites and the Asparagus Shanghai spring rolls. Definitely worth trying.

MaMa does have a sweet tooth and my favourite was the Dark...

Cristi and Ange were absolutely amazing—they made us feel truly welcome and at ease. Their warmth and hospitality made my experience unforgettable; they are a true credit to their team, so please take good care of them! A special thank you to David for introducing us to Mama Shelter—what a one-of-a-kind experience! From the incredible food to the stunning design, lively atmosphere, and inviting ambiance, everything was exceptional. Don’t let Mama Shelter Hackney slip under your radar—it’s a must-visit!
