šTulse Hill
The Queen of the South is located at the southern end of Tulse Hill on the border with Norwood in South London. The nearest station is Tulse Hill mainline.
This pub started life as The White Hart, built in 1871. It closed in 2017 after years of neglect and latterly a change of ownership which alienated the local community. The pub reopened in May 2023 as The Queen of the South, sister pub of the @princeofpeckham .
This Victorian pub has a jaw dropping exterior which is painted in a striking purple and gold finish. Inside, the pub has been extensively refurbished and features a ground floor bar, a first floor events venue and a cave bar in the basement. The main bar is stylish and vibrant with a contemporary feel. The servery is located on the right hand side and has an attractive mural by @mrcenzone above the back bar. There are some lovely features throughout the pub like bespoke London wallpaper, a carved fireplace, stained glass panels and a cosy snug.
The beer selection is all keg and includes big name brands and some local brews. I decided on a pint of Amstel, my pint cost £5.80 and was clean and crisp. The food here is by @rapsldn which is owned by @tiniegram . The menu consists of burgers, wraps and fried chicken. I was feeling peckish and ordered a Buffalo Chicken Burger and Fries. My Burger was very tasty indeed and had a nice kick.
I arrived around 4pm on a sunny Saturday afternoon in September. There was a lovely local pub atmosphere which was calm and relaxed. The punters were a mix of ladies having afternoon cocktails and a few lads sat at the bar watching the footy. The service was first class, the team here are super friendly and personable.
The @qotspub is an eye catching community pub that made for a most enjoyable experience. There are so many positives to report, most notably the service. I love what they are doing here, they are definitely on to a winner. Great to see a pub back from the dead and thriving, get this one on your list.

From the Prince of Peckham to Queen of the South; I had such a good time here with my family.
Firstly, I would like to thank Elizabeth for her exceptional customer service, she is TOP TIER and a huge credit to the establishment! She deserves some sort of employee of the month or even a pay rise honestly. She literally went above and beyond to make sure everything was going ok, engaging with the customers naturally, approachable and was not rude.
In addition, I would also like to thank Vicki who changed our reserved āpremiumā table as it was not premium at all! Vicki also ensured everything was going well and demonstrated exceptional customer service so again thank you guys! Also for the bottles of Prosecco š¤Ŗ
To Elizabethās friend (sorry I forgot his name) but he got me free drinks from Mo, the bartender so thank you š Gids the security ādo you have a wristband?ā š¤£ good vibes! Overall good interpersonal skills from most of the staff I interacted with. However, I would like to point out that when youāre front of house & customers are clearly standing in front of you, staff should not continue to have a conversation while ignoring customers they clearly know are waiting. The conversation should end because itās rude and is not what you do managing the door šš½
Interpersonal skills is very important in hospitality & not all the staff get that which is a let down. Not every waiter is able to communicate, some are just rude for no reason and they need to pattern up!
And to conclude, the food was 5/10 it might have just been one of those days because the food at Prince of Peckham is 11/10. I liked the plates. The Rice & Peas was nice & grainy, the Oxtail & Mac ān Cheese was ok. The coleslaw that comes with the rice I did not like, just mix it prior š¤·š½āāļø overall tasty My family ordered the curry goat, chicken burger, halloumi fries and garlic mushrooms. They really enjoyed their food. Most of my content didnāt make it but I will definitely be back to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe made a booking for 4 people weeks ago which was confirmed. My friend then called the restaurant on the day of our booking to change it to a table of 5, which was not a problem. On arrival, we were told that the booking hadnāt been confirmed as the card hadnāt been authorised, even though my friend had a confirmation email and had earlier called the restaurant who also confirmed the booking. We were then seated upstairs in a private karaoke room which was cold and not set out for diners. As it was completely separate, there was no ambience or vibe like in the main restaurant. After being put in to this room, it was as though staff had forgotten about us as we waited around 15 minutes for our drinks order to be taken and then waited a further 30 minutes to receive them. We also waited around 45 minutes to receive food, which was cold. 4/5 of us had to send food back to be reheated. We also ordered two macaroni cheese dishes, the first one came out 10 minutes after all of the mains, and then waited another 10 minutes for the second ? After another 45 minutes, nobody had come back to clear our plates or take further drinks orders so we had to find a member of staff to bring us the bill. When the bill arrived, an additional roast was on the bill. We also explained how the service had been extremely poor and were told by a member of staff that we should never have been placed in the room. She then went on to blame this on the member of staff who had seated us, giving us her name and telling us to put her name in the google review, which seems very strange and unprofessional. Luckily the food was good, but overall the service was extremely poor and not worth me...
