Update in July 2024: still incredible. Love this place. Old review from 2011: Very exciting to have these kind of Neapolitan specialities available in London - there are things on the menu here I haven't seen anywhere else in London. I started with the pasta tartufella, where the porcini was very evident, and the thick spaghetti was al dente and just right. I wasn't 100% sure about the smoked cheese flavour to the sauce, but maybe that's just me. Next, the real highlight - I chose one of the calzone fritti - the "veracella" - an experience which demands hyperbole to adequately describe. It was like an excellent savoury doughnut, with a superbly rich tomato sauce instead of the jam, and some really good quality mozzarella. Oh, and occasionally little intense bursts of very fragrant basil. Excellent texture to the dough - perfect balance of chewy and fluffy, whilst also being crisp on the outside. Eating this pizza was frankly an emotional experience. I wouldn't recommend you eat this every day, or even every week, but once a month or so might go a long way to making life seem less dull. Well done Rosso Pomodoro!

Delightful restaurant that embodies warm Italian hospitality with vibrant flavours and varied choices. They are passionate about the dining experience. Their Neapolitan pizzas are delicious- big enough for two to share with a salad and dessert, or solo, served with chili & garlic oils. The carbonara pasta is lovely too! Ample vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free choices. Nice wine and cocktail selection (get a bottle!!) Impeccable service: they recruit and train very friendly people who listen well, and are determined to please. Their outside trattoria is perfect on a warm summer evening, as the parade of pedestrians passes, (unless there is someone smoking beside you- very Italian). Inside, it is boisterous and convivial, but less suited to intimate romantic suppers or involved business discussions. About a 5 minute walk from Leicester Square tube station. Check their website for promotions and seasonal specials. I ♥️ ROSSOPOMODORO‼️

Small chain of Italian restauarants - this one in the heart of Covent Garden. Service is quick, the waiters are polite, sometimes you might struggle to get their attention but it’s because they’re bustling about. The carbonara was good. Simple but tasty served with curly pasta. The pizza was a generous size and my friend enjoyed. The salad was also hearty and a main portion is good for three or four to share if you wanted to have a more interesting side than mixed greens. Spritzes were served in large Crystal glasses - the same as on the shores of restaurants in Lake Como. Of course, an Italian restaurant attracts Italian staff so it’s an authentic experience 😂 You can get a decent lunch for around £20 per person. Alcohol and extras obviously drive the price up but it could be a cheap meal if you stick to water/soft drinks and a pizza/pasta main only. Make a reservation at peak times of the day.

Restaurant Review: Rosso Pomodoro, Central London

If you’re in central London and craving authentic Italian cuisine, look no further than Rosso Pomodoro. This hidden gem offers a delightful dining experience that captures the essence of Italy right in the heart of the city.

From the moment I stepped in, the warm ambiance and rustic decor set the perfect tone. The inviting aroma of fresh herbs and baked bread whetted my appetite, promising an extraordinary meal ahead.

The menu is a celebration of traditional Italian flavors, featuring a variety of pizzas, pastas, and delectable desserts. I opted for the Margherita pizza, and it was nothing short of spectacular. The thin, crispy crust was topped with fresh mozzarella, ripe tomatoes, and fragrant basil—each bite was a slice of perfection.

What truly elevated my experience, however, was the service. My waitress, Anisa, was an absolute delight. Her warmth and genuine enthusiasm made me feel right at home. She was incredibly knowledgeable about the menu, offering fantastic recommendations and ensuring my dining experience was flawless. Anisa’s attention to detail and personal touches truly made it the best service I’ve ever had.

To finish off my meal, I indulged in their tiramisu, which was rich and creamy, with just the right amount of coffee flavor. It was the perfect ending to a perfect meal.

Overall, Rosso Pomodoro is a must-visit for anyone seeking delicious Italian food in London. With outstanding dishes and service that feels like a warm embrace, I can’t wait to return. Thank you, Anisa, for making my visit...

I recently visited Rossopomodoro in Covent Garden and decided to try their pizza with artichokes. While the restaurant has a warm and inviting atmosphere, my experience was slightly mixed, though mostly enjoyable.

The pizza itself was well-made and lived up to expectations in terms of texture and authenticity. The dough was perfectly soft yet slightly crisp on the edges, and the artichokes were flavorful and fresh, adding a lovely earthy depth to the dish. However, there was a slight hiccup with the condiments. We had specifically expected truffle mayo as an accompaniment, but instead, they served garlic mayo. This small substitution felt a bit deceptive, as though they were trying to pass it off unnoticed. While it wasn't a huge deal, it was a touch disappointing.

To their credit, our waiter was fantastic. He quickly acknowledged the mistake and offered a sincere apology, which softened the situation. His attentive and friendly service throughout the meal really elevated the experience and left a positive impression.

Another highlight was the wine selection. The wine paired beautifully with the meal, balancing the flavors of the pizza perfectly. Additionally, our seating was ideal—cozy yet spacious, with a lovely view of the vibrant Covent Garden buzz outside.

Overall, despite the small setback with the mayo, Rossopomodoro delivered a satisfying dining experience. The high-quality pizza, excellent wine, and stellar service outweighed the minor disappointment. I would certainly consider returning, though I might double-check any specialty...

Classic Italian. Service is friendly, pasta dishes were good, but everything else disappointing to insulting.

Kid meals did not get their drinks and addons (menu said +carrots, fruits, juice or water) - when I asked after we got the dishes the waiter said the “+” sign means we have to ask for them.. Thats plain con…

Kids pizza was ok. Schnitzel Milanese, was not Milanese, it was chicken, not beef, it was max 80gr of chicken, and had NO sides (you can pay extra 2 pounds for fries).. it was also insulting for 7.95 pound.

I ordered a chicken salad.. I knew not to expect much, but for 16-17 pound same price as pasta, I was expecting something slightly bigger than a starter dish of tired lettuce and max 80gr of chicken in it.. it was insulting..

When my wife told the waiter, cause I was too furious, he told her “what can we do, the salads are small”.. A Tesco express salad was bigger and cost 3 pound for the same lettuce and chicken.

So some may fall for the medeternian friendly service, it’s great to have a friendly service, but if you don’t get the food, and when you ask you don’t get proper service, what does it worth ?

Will never eat here again, and unless you like to pay alot and get little for your money, I recommend you do the same.

The only two stars are because my wife was happy with her pasta.

Maybe if you eat a pizza it’s fine. Everything else was...
