This large pizza restaurant, situated in a former furniture showroom, is full of character and is modern but cozy and comfortable. The lighting is subtle and conducive to a romantic meal, and the decor is warm and welcoming. The background music is of a pleasant easy-listening variety and at a volume that doesn't offend. The menu offers a wide range of pizzas and pastas, with the former being what the venue is best known for. Having eaten a number of different pizzas there, I can definitely recommend them all. Most are slightly spicy (I think it's the base sauce that has a gentle kick); even the English Breakfast pizza (fried eggs, sausage, bacon, black pudding) has mildly firey undertones. My dining partner told me that the delicious butternut soup starter he had also benefited from the addition of warming spices. On the subject of starters, the garlic dough balls are delicious, as are the king prawns in garlic butter, and everything is served piping hot. The dessert selection is excellent, and I can particularly recommend the toffee and ice cream sundae. Portion size for each course is just right, so you shouldn't leave feeling hungry or too stuffed. Service was not entirely speedy when waiting for our first course the last time we visited, but our waiter was delightful smiley and friendly and showed just the right level of attentiveness which more than compensated for the slightly long wait. To be fair, this is a very popular restaurant and can get quite busy. There’s a very pleasant glass-covered conservatory front to the venue, which makes for a nice spot to watch the world go by when you dine, but for a more romantic feel, there are a number of cosy corners. In the daytime the restaurant attracts a significant number of parents with children, so that's the time to avoid if you're looking for a quiet and peaceful dining experience.
