Off The Beaten Path — Restaurant in Melton

Our 1st visit to this establishment, with Husband Daughter & 2 small Grandchildren, at Lunctime today. Service was atrocious. I didn't wish for a Savoury Meal, so ordered a Pavlova, to hopefully be asked if I would like it to be served with the Savoury dishes ordered for the rest of the Family. The Savoury Meals were served but no sign of my Pavlova. Despite asking a Member of Staff for it, who basically spent more time chatting to each other, 45mins later, I still had not received it and at that point I had actually gone past it. My Daughter also asked for a glass of tap water, that also wasn't received by the end of our visit. The Manager (not sure if she is the owner), came to our table & probably assuming we were about to complain about the food - we wasn't, except for my non-existant Pavlova - did not deal with such a simple order. Working in consumer relations i found her extremely unprofessional, bordering on lack of ability to understand our issues. Would not go there again, they all need serious training in...

Been visiting this coffee shop and its predecessor for about a decade. The latest installment is 'ok', coffee and food are nice, in fact ive never had a bad coffee or poor food there. However it's always over crowded, they have put too much seating in the space, no room at all for disabled customers or pushchairs, in fact, they do not provide high chairs. Given that not having high chairs is a deliberate decision for a cafe, I suspect it is down to wanting to either a) fit more paying customers in, b) deter parents, c) both. So for over crowding, not having high chairs and sometimes being stuffy because of over crowding I have to give it 2 stars as an experience, and I don't bother anymore, and with young kids now it's not worth the hassle...

Today was our second visit to OTBP, it came highly recommended from a good friend of ours known to the cafe as “Monday Jane” A few weeks ago she had bought my father in law a piece of cake to try and he remarked “That was beautiful!” So it was only natural that we wanted to “pop in” ourselves and see all the goodies. The food is delicious! It’s so nice to go somewhere and know that everything is freshly made, It was lunchtime and although they were busy the service was prompt and super friendly. It’s a 25 minute drive for my father in law, but Lynne and Wayne have created such comfortable and welcoming environment, with fantastic home cooking that he’s more than happy to make the journey……..and stock...
